1 Principals of Volunteer Resource Management Presenter - Mary McCormick, CAVS Healthcare Volunteer Resources Professionals Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services Trainer, Jacksonville, Florida Mary McCormack, CAVS is the Director of Volunteer Services for Nemours Children s Specialty Care. She has shown thousands of people and organizations how to successfully apply creative solutions to challenges involving leadership, Joint Commission standards, and best business management practices over the past 37 years. Mary has presented to conference attendees in 38 states. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a nationally Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) and is a certified national trainer for the Association of Healthcare Volunteer Resource Management (AHVRP). Mary is the author of Constant Readiness: Recommended Practices for Joint Commission Standards (Second Edition). Her book is published by AHVRP and the American Hospital Association. She hosted two national healthcare disaster preparedness videos for PRIMEDIA Workplace Learning, a satellite-based distance learning company with a viewership of 1.2 million on lessons learned from the 9-11 attack. Mary presented two programs on volunteer management at an international peace congress in Toronto, Canada for the World Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (WANGO). The Association of Healthcare Volunteer Resource Professionals (AHVRP) honored Mary with the national Award of Excellence in 2007 and the AHVRP Service Excellence Award in The Florida Association of Directors of Volunteer Services presented her with their highest peer award, the Commitment to
2 Excellence Award, in She has twice served as president of the North Florida Chapter of the National Speakers Association. She is a past president and a silversmith instructor at the Jacksonville Gem and Mineral Society. Mary resides in Jacksonville, Florida.
3 Managing and Resolving Conflict Presenter - Andrea Snyder Andrea has over 20 years of experience working with individuals and teams in the development of conflict resolution strategies. She presently serves as Employee Ombudsman for the UHS Healthcare System in Binghamton NY This workshop will discuss the role that leaders play in the healthy resolution of conflict. Attendees will learn specific communication tools that facilitate understanding of other points of view and encourage collaborative approaches towards conflict resolution.
4 Burnout: How to Recognize Your Needs So You Can Take Care of Your Volunteers Presenter Dr Melissa Heinlein-Storti, Ph.D., CAVS Melissa A. Heinlein, Ph.D., CAVS, serves as the Chief, Voluntary Service at the Corporal Michael J. Crescenz VA Medical Center in Philadelphia. She is credentialed as a Certified Administrator of Volunteer Services (CAVS) through the American Hospital Association. Dr. Heinlein has over 20 years of experience in volunteer engagement, with the majority of her time being spent in healthcare. Prior to her appointment as Voluntary Service Program Manager, Melissa served as Assistant Director of Volunteer Resources in a private sector healthcare setting leading 1,200+ volunteers. Volunteer resource managers seek ways to avoid volunteers from burning out. When such energy is placed on caring for others, we ofter forgot about caring for ourselves. This interactive workshop presentation will have you unselfishly reflect on not only your role as volunteer resource manager, but as a leader to help prevent burnout within you volunteer workforce. Whether you are new to the field or a seasoned volunteer resource manager, this workshop is for you.
5 Volunteers and the Patient Experience Presenter -Amy MG Szczesniak, MS, RN, CPXP Amy is the Chief Experience Officer (CXO) at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY. The CXO position was formed in 2015 to support the organization s work to enhance the patient experience. In her role as CXO, Amy Szczesniak oversees Patient Relations, The Office of Volunteer Programs, and Spiritual Care. Amy has been in healthcare in the Syracuse area for 20 years with various roles such as working as a Registered Nurse in the cardiac, radiology, and operating room arenas and as Clinical Nurse Specialist for med/surg and orthopedics. Amy also served as a Director of Patient Experience for 2 years prior to her appointment at Upstate. She earned a bachelor s degree in nursing from Russell Sage College, and a master s degree in nursing education from Keuka College. She became certified as a Patient Experience Professional in 2016 when the inaugural exam launched. Amy has a passion for patient centered care and delivering exceptional patient experiences.

Currently, MaryAnn serves as the Chief Operations Officer for the Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways, Inc. MaryAnn s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York, College at Oswego and a Masters of Education from St. Lawrence University. MaryAnn started her professional career in the field of Higher Education Administration serving at three different institutions for 12 years directing major student life, residential, and judicial programs. In 2001, MaryAnn made the move into the non-profit world where she was President & CEO of Consumer Credit Counseling for nearly 12 years. Under her leadership, the agency experienced tremendous growth from being a local, then state-wide, and then nationally based organization, the 4 th largest of its kind in the country that received two national awards for excellence. MaryAnn s expertise lies in the areas of Organizational Development, Business Operations & Management, and Human Services. She has made several contributions to her professional and civic community by way of regional and national conference presentations, outside consulting and training, service to Rotary International, and on local Boards.

In 2011 Ben founded FreshySites website design and development studio. Since inception, FreshySites has grown exponentially into the largest in-house WordPress focused web design shop on the east coast.
