8 Booking onto Training RCHT uses the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) to manage its learning and development opportunities. You can use your ESR account to manage your own training portfolio by viewing course dates, enrolling onto classes and by completing e-learning from many computers on RCHT sites and also from non NHS computers such as your home PC. The Trust recognises that not all staff has easy access to a computer and therefore it has provided this through computers in the library services and the intranet café, both of which are located in the Knowledge Spa Truro. If you need help to make your course booking we are available by phone or (ext or Rch-tr.employeesupport@nhs.net). If you choose elearning you will be taken to a page that shows a single class for you to enrol on, and if you choose instructor-led you will be taken to a list of classes, with dates and venues clearly displayed for you to choose from. elearning Certifications It is important that you always check if a certification exists for your chosen course before accessing a piece of e-learning. This ensures your learning history and competence is updated correctly. Information on how to do this can be found here. To view the dates and reserve your place, please log onto ESR from the icon on the desktop of Trust PCs, click on My Learning and search for the course. Once you have found the course in ESR, please click on the course name to read the description in order to check that this is the right course for you. 106 Clinical Supervision Clinical Supervision is a process by which professionals are assisted to improve practice, develop professionally and personally and deal productively with the stresses inherent in a caring role. It is a method of supporting and developing competence by providing practitioners with the opportunity to meet on a regular/as required basis with an experienced colleague to discuss their own work and reflect on and learn from their actual clinical experiences under discussion. 120 Apprenticeship Qualifications What you need to know: From May 2017, there are national changes to how apprenticeships will be funded which will affect the NHS. This presents an exciting opportunity for the Trust to increase the level of training delivered through apprenticeship routes for both new starters and as learning and development opportunities for existing staff. Apprenticeships are no longer limited to those who work in Band 1-4 roles. Opportunities are continuing to grow at all educational levels, and in many new specialties, including degree level apprenticeships such as Leadership and Management and Nursing at Level 6. The important thing to note is that 20% of an apprentice s time must be dedicated to off the job learning and there will be flexible ways in which this can be achieved. All Apprenticeships programme are fully funded by the Apprenticeship Levy Myth Buster Apprenticeships are for those who people who can t do academic courses WRONG! Apprenticeships require various levels of learning up to Degree. Apprenticeships require maths and English, work based and academic learning. Apprenticeships are just for young people WRONG! Anyone regardless of age can undertake an apprenticeship. Apprenticeships are just for new recruits WRONG! Apprenticeships are a combination of qualifications that can be used by any member of staff to develop the skills they require for their role.
