1 FEBRUARY 13, 2017 Tell us something good CATH LAB By: Ben Sells, RN, Coordinator The Cath Lab is a very busy department, providing cardiac services as well as peripheral services. We have four cardiologists, two nurse practitioners, six nurses and three X-ray technicians with more than 150 years combined experience in the Cath Lab. Dr. Venkata Reddy (20 yrs), Dr. Hari Nair (7 yrs), Dr. Zakare Salifu (5 yrs), Dr. Lawrence Rajan (1 yr), Lisa DuCoff, APRN (5 yrs) and Nancy Jo Houchens, APRN (1 yr) make up our cardiac team. Shout out to Lisa DuCoff, APRN, who is one of only three nurse practitioners Board Certified in Cardiology in the state. Our Cath Lab staff includes Carolyn Doss, RN (12 yrs), Jon Houchens, RN (5 yrs), Mary Bybee, RN (26 yrs), Teresa Hatcher, RN (11 yrs), Julie Thomas, RN (3 yrs), Ben Sells, RN, Coordinator (11 yrs), Leslie Davis, RTR, CI (9 yrs), Jessica Spillman, RTR (5 yrs) and Stephanie Key, RTR (28 yrs X-ray / 1 yr Cath Lab). Donna Mann, RN, MSN is the Cath Lab Director. A vast array of services provided by our Cath Lab include: Cardiac Catheterization with angioplasty and stent, Code STEMI with possible Thrombectomy and/or Atherectomy, Balloon Pump and Device Insertion (Pacemaker, AICD- Automatic Internal Cardiac Defibrillator, BI-Ventricular AICD, LOOP-Event Recorder). Also, we perform peripheral procedures such as Lower Extremity Angioplasty and Stent, Renal Angioplasty and Stent, Dialysis Catheter Placement, Pericardiocentesis and Cardioversion. We also cover for emergencies 24/7/365 days a year. Each staff member averages 60 hours of call per week. Our MOTTO is We save lives by stomping out heart disease one patient at a time. We work closely with ICU, Stepdown and ER staff, as well as Cardiology and EMS. We recently acquired a machine called EKOS that treats deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. We will soon be offering Bioabsorbable Stents for coronary blockage and Cardiogenic Shock Therapy with Impella. In 2016, we performed 1,484 procedures, including 500+ PCI s with 60 STEMI s. The number one killer in America is heart disease, therefore, we are dedicated to providing the most up-to-date cardiovascular treatments for our community and surrounding areas.
2 WOMEN & NEWBORN CARE Receives Grant Funding Women and Newborn Care is proud to announce that we are recipients of the March of Dimes Community Grant. The department received $20,000 in grant funding which they plan to use to implement a new position called "Obstetric Patient Navigator". The March of Dimes Kentucky included this in the award letter: "We are excited to have this opportunity to support this project, which has the potential to significantly impact the health of mothers and babies in your area." Special thanks to our Grant Task Force for taking the time to assist with this grant. The Task Force included: Darlene Smith, Donna Farlee, Katie Shepard, Ashley Blythe, Kellie Gearlds, Sherry Allen, Judy England, Amanda Ramey, Debra Smith, and Rhonda Pitcock.
