The Forum will be in the same location at the Antlers Hotel, so it is a great opportunity if you are looking for 14 additional CPE and more networking opportunities. 5 members to help grow and develop your shops and professional skills. Tackling topics such as Auditing Information Security, the Quarterly provides an opportunity to share the stories and experiences that local government auditors face in our work. Past issues of the Quarterly are available online, so whether you are developing an annual audit plan, or looking for possible audit procedures, the Quarterly has valuable information to support you in your work. Have you recently completed an audit about Ethics and Culture, or Public Safety? Consider submitting an article to the Quarterly. Click here for more information on becoming an author. Advocacy Committee Needs Help in Covering the Northeast U.S. The mission of ALGA s Advocacy Committee is to promote independent performance auditing throughout local governments by means such as providing information to jurisdictions about how to establish an audit function or defending audit functions that are under attack. Ideally the committee s membership will be generally representative of the various regions of the United States and Canada. We have found that it is often more effective and efficient to have someone local to help a jurisdiction that is trying to start an audit function or help an audit office that is facing attacks on its independence. We are looking for an ALGA member from the northeast U.S. who would be interested in joining our committee. If you are interested in this or know of someone who might be interested, please contact Advocacy Committee Chair David Jones at either davidg.jones@seattle.gov or (206) The GAO is looking for feedback on their 2009 Assessing the Reliability of Computer-Processed Data guidance! If you are interested in providing feedback, the PIC Chair by April 5 or provide feedback directly to GAO by ing datareliabilityfeedback@gao.gov by April 16. When providing your comments, please include a brief rationale for any

6 suggested changes and a reference to the section being commented on. PIC issued comments for proposed statement of the GASB Accounting for Interest Cost during the Period of Construction. The objectives of the statement was to: 1. enhance the relevance and comparability of information about capital assets and the cost of borrowing for a reporting period, and 2. to simplify accounting for interest cost incurred during the period of construction. Our Peer Review is made up of seven peer review coordinators, four at-large members, an advisor, and chair. One of our longest-serving and respected coordinators, Ms. Terra VanAndel, accepted a nonaudit post with the city of Long Beach, and left our ranks. Terra was a true friend to the PRC, advocating for peer review and the value it brings to our member organizations. She helped guide, promote, and protect ALGA s Peer Review program through several standards changes and Peer Review Guide renditions. She was a beloved member of the PRC, and we wish her every success in her new venture. Notice to Red Book Shops! ALGA s Red Book Guide (2017) and accompanying forms have been updated to reflect the International Professional Practices Framework to include the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (2017). ALGA Peer Review Workshop: Once again, the PRC will be facilitating the popular peer review workshop at ALGA s Annual Conference in May in Colorado Springs. Please join us as we host two concurrent sessions on Sunday, May 6. Continental breakfast and lunch are included.
