The IHS Injury Prevention Program utilizes the public health process that involves a systematic approach through priority setting with assessment based on data, targeted objectives, evidencebased strategies and evaluation. 3 Tuesday, November 17, :00 pm 2:00 pm Breakout Sessions 1) Low Cost Safety Measures Adam Larsen, Safety Engineer, FHWA 2) Data Driven Analysis of Bridge Safety and other Safety Projects at the Muscogee Creek Nation Tom Edwards, President, Cross Timbers Consulting; Pamela Jurney, Project Development Director, Cross Timbers Consulting Over the course of the last two years, Cross Timbers Consulting (CTC) has used collision data provided through the ODOT s SAFE-T database to analyze crash data, examining collision locations, severity, and contributing factors for several tribes within the state of Oklahoma. In addition to collision data analysis, CTC has researched the techniques supported by the FHWA for the justification and development of safety projects. Predictive analysis was used for a recent TIGER grant application for the replacement of 29 bridges in the Muscogee Creek Nation. 4 Tuesday, November 17, :45 pm 4:15 pm Breakout Sessions 1) Transportation Safety Projects at the University of Oklahoma Intelligent Transportation Systems Laboratory Professors Joseph Havlicek and Ronald Barnes, Oklahoma University 2) SHPR2 Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Emergency Responder Training Richard Jurey, Operations Engineer, FHWA Oklahoma Division. Richard will provide an overview of and challenges from the Oklahoma SHRP2 TIM Emergency Responder Training program. He will also provide some basic information on how emergency responders can be prepared traffic issues at a crash scene. 2:45 pm 4:15 pm Two-Part Session Exchange 4 1) New Oklahoma Child Passenger Safety Laws and Texting Laws Samantha Harcrow, Oklahoma Highway Safety Office (45 minutes) 2) DUI Prevention and Education: The role of Tribal Behavioral Health Programs Jake Roberts, Interim Behavioral Health/MSPI Director, White Eagle Health Center Behavioral Health This workshop will examine the impact that Behavioral Health Programs can have in regards to DUI prevention and education. Workshop participants will develop a deeper understanding of the Behavioral Health field and how the integration of Behavioral Health principles within other Tribal or organizational programs can be a significant factor in prevention efforts. Upon completion of the two-hour session and a short test for understanding of this type of hazard, participants will be eligible to receive a Transportation Safety Institute Certificate of Completion.
