6 NEW INCOME TAX RATE Voters approved a 0.25% City of Akron Income Tax Rate increase. The new rate is 2.50% which became effective January 1, The tax is ear-marked for Police, Fire/EMS and Roads. The rate also applies to the four Akron Joint Economic Development Districts (JEDDs): Bath-Akron-Fairlawn JEDD Copley- Akron JEDD Coventry-Akron JEDD Springfield-Akron JEDD

7 Contractor Registration City of Akron passed legislation in December 2016 Beginning February 1, 2017, the City of Akron requires construction contractors to obtain a Contractor Registration from the City prior to performing work in Akron that requires a permit issued by either the City of Akron, State of Ohio, or Summit County Building Standards.

21 2018 Annual Request for Wastewater and Water Letters of Interest Request will be sent out on January 22 nd. Letters accepted until 4:00 p.m. local time, on March 1 st. Requested to meet the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) program requirements for the procurement of Architectural and Engineering Services resulting from the passage of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2014 (WRRDA). New letters requested annually. Letters will be reviewed and kept on file. Can be updated, as needed.

38 Request for PMIS Access needs to be sent to the PM PM will then a New User Agreement and Questionnaire form to the individual. PM will then put in the requests into OIT Services Portal as well as indicate what the person requires in regards to access. (including all of the needed documentation) A request receipt is sent out to the individual that needs access to PMIS. 43 An amendment, which includes two modifications to the Akron Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Consent Decree entered January 17, 2014 as amended in Amendment No 1 dated September 20, 2016, that would provide for at least equivalent level of control, at a lower cost and additional benefits to the community beyond the originally proposed controls.

44 The first modification seeks to replace the original storage basins with new control measures that are identified in the City s Integrated Plan. The new control measures are based upon detailed technical evaluations of the City s sewer system that demonstrate that the new control measures will provide at least an equivalent level of control as the original storage basins at a lower cost. The new control measures have additional benefits to the community beyond the originally proposed controls.

47 The second modification includes an alternate Water Pollution Control Station (now known as the Water Reclamation Facility) control measure. The new control measures will provide at least an equivalent level of treatment as the original technology at a lower cost. It will also provide control of an additional parameter (CBOD5) and a demonstration study for treatment effectiveness along with a comparative study.

53 Dazzle Miller Dazzle came through the All-Akron Student Engineering Program in Summer of 2016 He joined GPD again from PLCC in January of 2017 Dazzle was converted to a full time employee after his high school graduation June of 2017 He currently works on the MES Team EE Group as a CAD Technician He has plans to utilize GPD s college tuition reimbursement program to further his education

54 Nathan came through the Program in Summer of 2017 His internship was extended three weeks to continue working as a technician before school was back in session Nathan is a HS Senior this year and will be returning to GPD in Summer 2018 to work as an Inspection Technician He plans to continue working part time throughout college as he attends The University of Akron Nathan Gorbach

56 This is Nick Raymond- He is currently a senior at Firestone CLC and interned with Welty Building Co. this summer as part of the All-Akron Student Engineering Program.

57 Overview of Internship Plan for 2017 AAESP Summer Experience: Starting the week of July 10th, the AAESP Summer Intern, Nick Raymond (Firestone CLC) will spend 20 hours a week for four weeks, shadowing Welty Building Co. During this experience, Nick will observe and learn about key business practices within construction management. Nick will receive a schedule of planned events and points of contact, and he will be responsible for contacting those points of contact to confirm start times and locations for each shadowing experience. As a result of these experiences, Nick will be tasked with creating a 15-minute presentation recapping his learning experience, along with recommendations for future students, which he will present to the key Welty leaders involved with his internship.
