3 Webinar Outcomes At the end of this presentation participants will know how to complete the new Verification Collection Report (FNS-742) During this process we will also briefly review the: Verification Process Verification Deadlines and Timeline for Compliance 3

4 What is Verification? Verification is the confirmation of eligibility of the current school year s approved applications for free and reduced price meals under NSLP and SBP Only a statistical sample of the approved free and reduced priced applications needs to be verified Verification shall include confirmation of income eligibility and may also include confirmation of any other information required in the application which is defined as documentation Refer to the Eligibility Manual for School Meals for more information. 4

5 Annual Verification Deadlines Applications that are determined and confirmed (and thereby approved) by districts as of October 1 st are subject to the annual verification process. Select the 3% sample size and start process. The SFA must complete the Verification Process by November 15, 2014 The Verification Collection Report must be submitted to ESE by January 10,

Count students in one category or another but not both. These totals are counted in the Virtual Gateway Reports section. Do not count partial matches unless checked and converted to Exact matches. 11

24 Submitting the FNS-742 The VERIFY button will run an edit check on all totals but will not Save the report. Once the report is Saved and Submitted changes cannot be made without ESE approval. 24
