4 Direct Certification Defined Simplified method of determining student s eligibility for free meals. Students who are participants of SNAP, TANF, or FDPIR. Increases access to school meals. Decreases burden on families and district staff by limiting paperwork.

18 Importance to School District District uses Direct Certification lists for: Economically disadvantage coding TEA Memo: Reporting Requirements for Economic Disadvantage Code 01 For the school year Economic Disadvantaged Code 01 should be interpreted to mean Student is eligible for free lunch based on an approved NSLP application or direct certification under the NSLP. 02 Disadvantaged Code 02 Eligible For Reduced price Meals with an approved application 99 Code 99 Other Economic Disadvantage Income Survey

24 Section 2 Section 2 is for any SFA operating alter nate provisions, such as Provision 2 and CEP. Watch that you put the right data in the right place. Number of schools in Column A Number of students in Column B Section 2 There are 3 parts to #2-2 (non-base year). Don t skip if you answered /17/2014 2

25 Section 3 Note all SFAs must respond on Section 3 All sites must be either Provision 2 or CEP. If RCCI, all students must be residential only. Section 3 This is the number of students identified through Direct Certification. Add the number of students certified on the State Match List and the number of students matched and certified on the CEP Upload. This is not an auto-fill from the Direct Certification in TX-UNPS. 12/17/

The number in A should be less than or equal the number in B, unless students that submitted applications were directly certified in October. Please keep documentation to support this if it happens. These numbers are automatically calculated from Sections 2, 3 and 4. Use your calculator to sum the number of applications. You may need that info in Section 5 12/17/

31 IMPORTANT ACTION Required by : Report DC SNAP at Special Provision Sites In October, Special Provision Schools were to Upload in the Direct Certification system in TX-UNPS. This upload was required to match SNAP records and the current student enrollment records for schools operating Provision 2 or Community Eligibility Program (CEP). TDA must report the results of the Special Provision Upload but does not have access to the data for the number of students certified from the State Match List and the numbers of students directly certified SNAP at the site level. TDA developed a simple form so that these numbers for your District can be reported. For Directly Certified SNAP students at P2 and/or CEP sites. This form must be submitted by February 1, You will need to complete the two processes of the Special Provision Match (State Match List and CE Upload) if you have not done so already.
