2 SCHEME TITLE Armed Forces Covenant Grants BUDGET per annum GRANT AWARDS N/A ,000 CONTACT DETAILS/ APPLICATION MATERIALS Rashida Gilkes Tel: Mobile: For application material and details of how to apply, go to: Armed Forces Covenant grant scheme Deadline for the submission of applications to Staffordshire County Council Appraisal Board as follows: 20th August th December th April th August th December 2014 OTHER INFORMATION The aim of the Covenant Grant Scheme is to financially support projects, at the local level, which strengthen the ties or the mutual understanding between members of the Armed Forces and the wider community in which they live. An application for funding can be submitted by any part of the community, this might include volunteer groups, charities, public bodies such as schools etc Example projects (but not restricted to) could include: Bringing together Armed Forces dependants with others in the local community One-off activities, such as an activity camp involving the Armed Forces and local young people An exhibition at a local library/town hall etc, explaining what a local Armed Forces unit has recently been doing (eg in Afghanistan); An oral history project, where the local branch of a regimental association, locally based Armed Forces personnel recorded their experiences or discussed them with local schoolchildren; Enhancement of existing community facilities used by both local and Armed Forces communities to enable new activities that will lead to greater integration Version 3.1 July 2013 NJE 2

Deadline: 20 December each year. Applications should focus on running an arts activity or event which benefits the community, widens participation and promotes accessibility. Applicants must be arts or community groups delivering arts related activities. Arts activities may include; music, visual arts and crafts, combined arts, festivals/events, dance, photography, film and new media, performance arts, theatre /drama, literature, the cultural Olympiad and arts in healthcare settings, etc. Arts Development Programme This fund is open to applications to run an arts project which address social issues, develop new audiences, target marginalised groups and support community development. These informal groups will encourage adults to come together in a group setting to learn from each other. Improve and increase home safety & maintenance Increase provision and access to equipment and adaptations. Reduce the number of people from being admitted into hospital. Reduce falls and trips. Reduce poverty / fuel poverty and maximise financial inclusion. Increase social networks to reduce isolation. Increase intergenerational support. 6 Increase user-led involvement and participation. Reduce crime and fear of crime. Reduced incidents of discrimination, harassment and abuse. Increase awareness of mental health and address stigma. Improve and promote positive mental health and wellbeing. Improve and increase community transport. Increase access to information. Applications for this grant can only be made by voluntary groups working directly with young people in a personal and social development capacity. 7 Staffordshire Learning Trust Responsiveness Fund Revenue As required by project For further information contact: Julia Staniforth Tel: Mob: Website (Application materials): Please note: Any funded activities need to be completed by 31 July Projects should: be delivered to adult learners aged 19 years and over have clear learning aims that will result in adults being better prepared to move on to further learning, work or volunteering be delivered by tutors with appropriate teaching qualifications be based on local needs which may include the development of the local community, supporting volunteers to achieve further skills and qualifications etc They can also: have an aim of improving the local community be centred on improving volunteers skills and qualifications be accredited to level 1 Programmes should be targeted at Adults from one or more of the following groups: Unemployed Economically inactive local residents in any Staffordshire People with no or low qualifications. Adults with learning difficulties/disabilities. Adults from ethnic minority groups. Adults experiencing mental and/or physical health issues. Older people. Carers. Version 3.1 July 2013 NJE 7

Deadline for applications is the end of December each year for a decision to be made by the following March panel meeting. What can the grant be used for? For any capital expenditure on the building or its surroundings. What can t it be used for? o Items that can easily be moved (furniture, fittings, carpet tiles) o Professional fees o Anything that should be part of routine repairs and maintenance e.g. decorating and car park resurfacing, except in special circumstances. o Any part of a project that has already been started.
