1 Funding available through Durham County Council s Area Action Partnerships Each Area Action Partnership (AAP) has a budget for local projects and investments. These are the funding opportunities currently available through some of the AAP s: 4 TOGETHER PARTNERSHIP Applications are now open for our Area Budget Project callout. Your project must address at least one of the priorities below; the deadline for applications is Friday 28 th July - projects should have an identified need, and a start date no earlier than November 2017 The Key Priorities for 4 Together Partnership for , as voted for by the public are: Children, Young People & Families ( 25,000) Older People ( 25,000) Health & Wellbeing ( 25,000) Grant Limits: Minimum 5,000 Maximum 7,000 groups can apply under more than one priority! Projects can be for Capital or Revenue (or both) The headings for all three of the Partnership s priorities for have been identified by the Task & Finish Groups, and agreed by the Board: Activities Staffing Running costs Aim: It is the 4 Together Partnership s aim to look at projects that will ultimately support our priorities as above in any or all of our areas (Ferryhill, Cornforth, Chilton and Bishop Middleham) so that our community members can live a happier and healthier life based on locally identified needs. Objectives: By way of project callout under this priority, we are looking for projects that meet and address the identified needs and requests of the community, as detailed in the criteria below. Criteria: We are seeking to support (priority) projects for activities including staffing and running costs and transport if required that can meet the identified need across our 4 Together Partnership area. We are looking to support projects covering arts, sports, recreational activities, training & learning, intergenerational and family activities, topics in relation to health, such as healthy eating advice, issues covering mental health, confidence building, sign language courses, diversionary activities, regular clubs with exciting activities, schemes to support gardening, combat loneliness and encourage social contact. We have a full list of suggested activities from recent consultation carried out with a wide range of our community members that will be available to all applicants (4 Together Partnership Action Plan). Please note one-off events will not be funded.
2 * Who CAN be funded? (just some of the requirements, full details in the guidance document) Only not for profit organisations are eligible to receive Area or Neighbourhood Budget, and Capital Small Grants funding voluntary & community sector organisations, statutory bodies including DCC services, Police, Fire, and Health, Town & Parish Councils, Schools and Colleges, Company limited by guarantee (please note: Charity Commission status or registration as a CIC we will check your current status with the Charity Commission and Companies House) Groups will need to provide signed, up-to-date accounts or in the case of new groups they must supply a year s forecast Groups must have a signed governing document, e.g. constitution, including dissolution clause (explains what would happen to assist if the group were to fold) Groups must be able to provide a recent bank statement Please request an application pack via fouraap@durham.gov.uk BISHOP AUCKLAND & SHILDON AREA ACTION PARTNERSHIP (BASH) Bishop Auckland and Shildon AAP will be putting out a call for projects in late July; they will be looking for projects that address their priorities of: Employment, Enterprise and Training Community Safety Children and Young People Further information to follow in July; in the meantime, please contact the team on or bishopshildonaap@durham.gov.uk DERWENT VALLEY PARTNERSHIP The Derwent Valley Partnership is pleased to announce that it has now launched its new Youth Fund 2017 which aims to support groups and organisations deliver local activities for young people between 11 and 19 years of age in the Derwent Valley area. The total amount of money available in the Youth Fund 2017 is 9,902 groups / organisations can apply for a minimum grant of 1,000 up to a maximum grant of 3,000 and applications must meet the specific eligibility criteria to receive funds. All submitted applications to the Youth Fund will be reviewed against the funding criteria by the Derwent Valley Partnership s Youth Panel which is made up of three independent people from the Partnership Board. The deadline for completed and returned applications is 5pm on Friday 4 th August Project timescales should reflect this so we would advise late September/early October project start dates at the earliest. 3 DURHAM AREA ACTION PARTNERSHIP We hold a Youth Grant of 9.9K (grants up to 3k) and a Welfare Reform Grant of 10K, there is criteria but the clue is in the title. We have an AAP small grant fund held by County Durham Community Foundation against which groups can apply for up to 2K provided they meet the criteria ( We hold an annual community event in Durham Town Hall at which projects can compete to win funding for their project via a public vote and this takes place in November. For further information about any of the above please contact dcaap@durham.gov.uk or telephone EAST DURHAM AREA ACTION PARTNERSHIP East Durham AAP have launched the following Small Grants Funds: Holiday Activity Fund Groups operating in East Durham AAP will be able to apply for funding to deliver activities that will address holiday activities and help to combat holiday hunger. Grants from a minimum of 250 up to a maximum of 3,000 are available for activities taking during the 2017 school Summer Holidays. The fund is open to applicants from Thursday 15th June until Friday 30th June 2017 Community Organisations Capital Grants Fund - Groups operating in East Durham AAP will be able to apply for funding for capital projects that support the aims of the East Durham AAP. Grants from a minimum of 250 up to a maximum of 3,000 are available for capital projects. There is no deadline for this fund. For more information and to request a copy of the application forms please contact the East Durham AAP Office on or eastdurhamaap@durham.gov.uk GREAT AYCLIFFE AND MIDDRIDGE PARTNERSHIP (GAMP) The GAMP Board has a budget of 100,000 available, and applications are invited for projects. Grant limits between 5,000 to 20,000 have been agreed. Projects must take place in the Great Aycliffe & Middridge Partnership area and address at least one of our key priorities and the respective project criteria, as outlined below. Applications can be for either capital or revenue funding, but projects which include a specific element of capital spend are encouraged. The closing date for applications is 5:00pm on Friday 28 July 2017 Our partnership priorities and the project criteria for applications are as follows: Children, Young People & Families Priority Projects are invited which help improve positive outcomes to support children, young people and their families from the GAMP area to live a happier and healthier life. Projects must address at least one of the following key issues:
4 o Risky behaviour, including alcohol/drugs/smoking/crime o Provision of activities/things to do for year olds o Children s physical, emotional and mental health Older People Priority Projects are invited which help support older GAMP residents to live a happier and healthier life (older residents are defined by Age UK as 50yrs+). Projects must address at least one of the following key issues: o Mental health, dementia, depression, access to social activity o Access to activity; facilities, transport, welfare/money issues o Social support; having regular contact with friends, family or neighbours Employment, Enterprise & Training Priority Projects are invited which aim to help improve positive outcomes for GAMP residents to gain employment and/or access to training. The key issues of particular interest are: o Apprenticeships o Gaining work experience o Careers advice Please note, any prospective projects should have a start date no earlier than December 2017/January 2018 to allow time for applications to go through our technical appraisal process. Please contact us for an application pack and guidance notes or if you would like further information about the process: telephone or gampaap@durham.gov.uk MID DURHAM AREA ACTION PARTNERSHIP Area Budget and Welfare Reform Funding We have 100,000 of Area Budget to tackle the following priority areas: Children, young people and families school holidays, activities for 12 to 15 yrs, risky behaviour and physical, emotional and mental health Older people Mental health (dementia, depression), keeping warm, protection against fraud and access to activity Local environment street cleanliness, parks and play areas and enhancing the natural environment Health & wellbeing Mental health, access to health services, social inclusion and physical health Community safety- ASB, safe places for children to play, feeling safe and substance misuse Task groups for these will commence in July. We have 10,000 set aside for welfare reform for which we are considering the extension of a school financial education programme.
5 Youth Fund Funding in the region of 9,400 is available through the Mid Durham Youth Fund. This is new funding available to the AAP and can be used to support youth activities for 11 to 19 year olds (25 years for special educational needs and/or disabilities). There is already a small task group underway to explore the wider use of this fund, but it will be managed via the Children, young people and families task group. This will be developed between July and October Mid Durham AAP Small Grants Fund The AAP have allocated 20,000 towards this fund to support local community groups to deliver existing or develop new projects/services. The fund has been running for 8 years and provides a maximum of 400 and a minimum of 100. The programme is open all year round and the grants committee meet every first Monday of the month. For more information on the above please contact the AAP on or mdaap@durham.gov.uk SPENNYMOOR AREA ACTION PARTNERSHIP Spennymoor AAP will be looking to develop, fund and deliver projects that align to their priorities in the coming months. They will be looking to begin this process in early July. STANLEY AREA ACTION PARTNERSHIP Area Budget Funding 100,000 of Area Budget is available to Stanley AAP in 2017/18. We have set up three Task Groups to work on our 2017/18 priorities. The Groups and the priority areas they are covering is below: Stronger Stanley: - Children, Young People and Families - Community Safety Supporting Stanley: - Older People - Health and Wellbeing
6 Successful Stanley: - Employment, Enterprise, and Training Successful Stanley is up and running, Supporting Stanley has its first meeting next week and Stronger Stanley s first meeting is to be arranged. Welfare Reform Funding: 10,000 to tackle Welfare Reform is also aligned to Stanley AAP. Youth Fund: 9,902 is available through the Stanley AAP Youth Fund. The fund can be used to support youth activities for 11 to 19 year older (25 years for special educational needs and/or disabilities). It will be managed by our Stronger Stanley Task Group, and they are to discuss publicity etc. when they meet. For more information on the above please contact the AAP on or stanleyaap@durham.gov.uk TEESDALE ACTION PARTNERSHIP (TAP) Available Funding Children Young People and Families Area Budget Funding in the region of 17,500 is available through TAPs Area Budget. TAP is looking for projects that look to address issues around developing activities that support and promote children and young people s social and emotional and/or physical wellbeing. The minimum amount projects can apply for through the Area Budget is The deadline for applications is 11 September Youth Fund Funding in the region of 22,500 is available through TAPs Youth Fund. This is new funding available to TAP and can be used to support youth activities for 11 to 19 year older (25 years for special educational needs and/or disabilities). Projects can apply for funding between 1000 and The deadline for applications is 11 September Children s Small Grants Funding of 7500 is available through TAPs Children s Small Grants Scheme. This can be used to support activities with 0 to 11 year olds. Projects can apply for funding of between 200 and 500. Applications will be assessed on a first come basis and the scheme will run until the funding is exhausted.
7 Older People Area Budget Funding in the region of 25,000 is available through TAPs Area Budget. TAP is looking for projects that look to address issues around supporting people living with dementia, their families and carers, activities for older people that improves their physical and mental health and supporting volunteers linked to the above points. The minimum amount projects can apply for through the Area Budget is The deadline for applications is 11 September Employment, Enterprise and Training Area Budget Funding in the region of 25,000 is available through TAPs Area Budget. TAP is looking for projects that look to address issues around develop activities that support young people and/or adults into employment or training, develop the capacity of local businesses to develop and take on more staff or improve the quality of jobs available. The minimum amount projects can apply for through the Area Budget is The deadline for applications is 11 September Welfare Reform Funding of 10,000 is available for projects that look to address issues that have arisen because of changes to the welfare and benefits systems. TAP is looking for projects that look to address issues around employment initiatives, information, advice and guidance, access to money, food or white goods. The minimum amount projects can apply for is The deadline for applications is 11 September Community Small Grants (Capital) Funding of 24,000 is available to organisations looking for funding for capital projects. (Building work, larger/more expensive pieces of equipment, environmental improvements, etc). You must contact the TAP team before applying to check if your project idea can be considered as a capital project. Projects can apply for funding between 200 and Applications will be assessed on a first come basis and the scheme will run until the funding is exhausted.
