Preference is given to bids that incorporate a voluntary contribution of either local funding, sponsorship or nationally available grants. Parish Councils are eligible to apply. Please note application for funding for 2012/13 is now closed. The next round of funding will open in March 2013 for activities taking place between April 2013 and 31 March % match funding required (of total project cost) Applicants must be arts or community groups delivering arts related activities. 3 Arts activities may include; music, visual arts and crafts, combined arts, festivals/events, dance, photography, film and new media, performance arts, theatre /drama, literature, the cultural Olympiad and arts in healthcare settings, etc. Village Halls & Centres Grant Scheme 90,000 Capital only 50% of total project cost up to 30k maximum Cathy Russell Tel: (01785) Administered by the Council of Staffordshire. Deadline for applications is the end of December each year for a decision to be made by the following March panel meeting. What can the grant be used for? For any capital expenditure on the building or its surroundings. What can t it be used for? 1. Items that can easily be moved (furniture, fittings, carpet tiles) 2. Professional fees 3. Anything that should be part of routine repairs and maintenance e.g. decorating and car park re-surfacing, except in special circumstances. 4. Any part of a project that has already been started. Improve and increase home safety & maintenance Increase provision and access to equipment and adaptations. Reduce the number of people from being admitted into hospital. Reduce falls and trips. Reduce poverty / fuel poverty and maximise financial inclusion. Increase social networks to reduce isolation. Increase intergenerational support. Increase learning, training, employment and volunteering opportunities. Increase user-led involvement and participation. Reduce crime and fear of crime. Reduced incidents of discrimination, harassment and abuse. Increase awareness of mental health and address stigma. Improve and promote positive mental health and Version 2.8 Feb 2013 NJE 4

Increase access to information. The Programme is split into two main areas: 1. Creating Sustainable Communities Applicants will be expected to fund 25% of the total project cost. Mob: ian.jackson@staffordshire.gov.uk Website: The funding will only be available to projects based in the following Staffordshire wards: Staffordshire Moorlands: Biddulph Moor; Brown Edge & Endon; Bagnall & Stanley; Cheddleton; Werrington; Cellarhead; Caverswall; Cheadle West; Cheadle North East; Cheadle South East; Forsbrook; and Checkley Activities under this theme will encourage local groups to initiate and develop community led services to meet gaps in provision, improve skills within the community, make improvements to local facilities to enhance their viability and promote existing services and facilities to ensure their sustainability. Examples of projects delivered under this theme could include: run shops; led energy efficiency projects; Improvements to Village Hall facilities; Rural transport services; Remote access to ICT training; Support to community groups to develop their capacity; Training young people in traditional rural skills. Stafford Borough: Eccleshall; Milwich; Gnosall & Woodseaves; Chartley; Milford; and Seighford 2. Enhancing Local Heritage and Environment Activities under this theme will enable local groups to conserve, interpret and promote the natural and cultural heritage of their area providing a strong sense of place and community and encouraging visitors into the area. 6 under this theme could include: Improving and managing access to the natural environment through the provision of new footpaths, trails and cycle paths; Interpretation and promotion of the local environment and heritage features; Environmental upgrading to local parks and village approaches; Renovation of important historical buildings; Environmental awareness actions; Heritage studies. Homeless adults and adults living in hostel accommodation Lone parents Armed Forces Covenant Grants N/A ,000 Denise Smallman Tel: Mobile The funding can be used for: Teaching staff Learning support in the classroom Childcare and Carer support Learner travel costs (not including staff travel) Consumable and materials Equipment necessary to deliver the learning activity Venue costs Activity management up to a maximum of 5% of the Local Authority contribution towards the total costs of the activity. The aim of the Covenant Grant Scheme is to financially support projects, at the local level, which strengthen the ties or the mutual understanding between members of the Armed Forces and the wider community in which they live. 9 how to apply, go to: Armed Forces Covenant grant scheme include: Bringing together Armed Forces dependants with others in the local community One-off activities, such as an activity camp involving the Armed Forces and local young people An exhibition at a local library/town hall etc, explaining what a local Armed Forces unit has recently been doing (eg in Afghanistan); An oral history project, where the local branch of a regimental association, locally based Armed Forces personnel recorded their experiences or discussed them with local schoolchildren; Enhancement of existing community facilities used by both local and Armed Forces communities to enable new activities that will lead to greater integration Version 2.8 Feb 2013 NJE 9
