6 Mike Batts Managing Partner - Batts Morrison Wales & Lee Mike Batts is the managing partner of BMWL. He has more than 30 years of experience serving and advising nonprofit organizations on matters related to board governance, financial reporting, tax compliance and strategy, corporate structure, international activities, and related issues. Mike has served on and chaired numerous boards, both nationally and locally. He currently serves as chairman of the board of ECFA, a national organization that accredits religious nonprofit organizations in the areas of board governance and financial integrity. Mike also actively engages in nonprofit legislative matters. Mike has authored several books covering a variety of topics important to nonprofit organizations. His book, Board Member Orientation, has been used by thousands of nonprofit board members across the U.S. and beyond. Mike recently co-authored, with Richard Hammar, the book, Church Finance a go-to reference that provides practical guidance for church financial administration. Mike s newest book is entitled Nonprofit Financial Oversight - The Concise and Complete Guide for Boards and Finance Committees. Dan Busby President - ECFA Dan Busby is the president of ECFA, a national organization that accredits religious nonprofit organizations in the areas of board governance and financial integrity. ECFA s seal enhances trust of givers, which increases generosity, providing greater resources to help fulfill the Great Commission. ECFA accredits over 2,100 churches and nonprofits. These organizations have annual revenue in excess of $27 billion. Dan has over 40 years of experience serving the Christ-centered church and nonprofit community and frequently speaks nationally on related issues. He is a prolific writer with 56 volumes of five book titles published, including a projected 2017 release, Lessons from the Boardroom, co-authored by John Pearson. Dan received a master of business administration degree from Emporia State University. The University also named him as a Distinguished Alumnus in Dan served as a member of the Commission on Accountability and Policy for Religious Organizations, a national legislative advisory commission convened to address legislative proposals for the nonprofit sector. Nonprofit Times named him as one of the 50 Most Powerful Nonprofit Leaders from Presenters Richard Hammar Attorney, CPA, and Author Richard Hammar is an attorney, CPA, and best-selling author specializing in legal and tax issues for churches and clergy. A graduate of Harvard Law School, he is the author of more than 100 books, including Pastor, Church & Law and the annual Church & Clergy Tax Guide. He also writes the Church Law & Tax Report newsletter, has contributed articles to numerous journals and publications, and is a frequent speaker at legal and tax conferences. He is a member of the Missouri and Illinois Bar Associations, a Professional Registered Parliamentarian, and a member of the American College of Parliamentary Lawyers. Rich recently co-authored, with CPA Mike Batts, the book, Church Finance a go-to reference that provides practical guidance for church financial administration.

7 Rachel Dobbs Client Executive - HYLANT Rachel Dobbs has been in the commercial insurance industry for nearly 13 years and is recognized for her ability to deliver tailored insurance programs with a heavy emphasis on pairing the clients needs with innovative products and customer service. Rachel s passion is to help organizations protect and grow the dreams they ve built. The way that we all do business has changed dramatically over the past 5-10 years. We re all working in data, connected to mobile devices, and store our information online either in cloud servers or otherwise. Many times, the insurance policies organizations have in place haven t kept up with changing practices and the emerging risk of cyber and data security. He received his bachelor of arts degrees in accounting and finance from Cedarville University and a master s of accountancy degree from Liberty University. 8 Mike Lee National Director of Audit & Assurance Services - Batts Morrison Wales & Lee Mike Lee is a partner and the national director of audit and assurance services for BMWL. He has more than 19 years of experience in auditing nonprofit organizations, analyzing internal controls, and other related areas of practice. Mike has been a conference speaker on nonprofit accounting and auditing issues at both the local and national levels. Mike is a contributing editor of BMWL s national nonprofit feature articles and news updates, and serves on an advisory committee for a national nonprofit accounting and financial reporting guide. He has also served on and chaired boards of local nonprofit organizations. Mike is licensed or authorized to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in numerous states and is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant. Bill Robbinson, Jr. Shareholder - Zimmerman, Kiser & Sutcliffe, P.A. William Bill Robbinson is an shareholder with Zimmerman, Kiser & Sutcliffe, P.A. Bill concentrates his law practice on representing businesses and nonprofit entities in corporate and general business work, including formation and corporate structure, governance, acquisitions and divestitures, contract formation and negotiation, software licensing and IP protection, regulatory and licensing support, and corporate policy review and development. In addition to his professional activities, he has served as counsel, advisor, and/or board member for numerous charitable and community organizations, including United Against Poverty, The Coalition for the Homeless, Frontline Outreach, The Conductive Education Center of Orlando, and The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce. Presenters John Van Drunen Executive Vice President and General Counsel - ECFA John Van Drunen is executive vice president and general counsel for ECFA, an oversight and accreditation organization. John graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor of arts degree in accounting from Anderson University and has a juris doctor degree from Regent University School of Law. He is admitted to the Virginia State Bar and is licensed as a CPA in Virginia and Illinois. John s responsibilities primarily relate to assisting the nonprofit community in the areas of nonprofit tax scholarship, compliance, and continuing education. He oversees the compliance process for ECFA as it relates to its over 2,100 accredited organizations. Since 2010, John has served as a coauthor on the Zondervan Minister s Tax & Financial Guide and the Zondervan Church and Nonprofit Tax & Financial Guide with Dan Busby and Michael Martin. In 2016, the three of them released another book entitled The Guide to Charitable Giving for Churches and Ministries.

9 Kaylyn Varnum Manager - Batts Morrison Wales & Lee Kaylyn Varnum is a manager of tax services for BMWL. She received her bachelor of science degree in accounting from Stetson University, where she graduated with highest honors and received the David M. Beights Award for the most outstanding graduating accounting major. Kaylyn s primary responsibilities include performing research and analysis related to technical tax issues at the federal, state, and local levels; providing tax advisory services related to exempt organization corporate structure planning; obtaining and maintaining federal, state, and local tax exemptions; and evaluating exempt organizations tax compliance. She is licensed or authorized to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in numerous states. She has been a conference speaker on nonprofit taxation issues at both the local and national levels. Bob Wagner Advisory & Security Services Practice Leader - ION247 Bob Wagner is the IT advisory services practice leader at ION247. Bob is responsible for the consistent development and delivery of ION247 s IT leadership and decision support offerings, including IT assessments/ audits, interim IT leadership and coaching, merger & acquisition technical due diligence, and assisting clients in assessing cyber security, compliance, and IT risk. Bob graduated from the University of Central Florida with a master s degree in business administration. He has an undergraduate degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in business with concentrations in accounting and computer systems. In addition, Bob is an Oracle Master, a certified leadership trainer, and has extensive experience in cyber security and risk management. Bob has also been a keynote speaker at CIO conferences as well as a panel member at technology research forums. Presenters Michele Wales National Director of Tax Services - Batts Morrison Wales & Lee Michele Wales is a partner and the national director of tax services for BMWL. She has supervisory responsibility for the firm s tax practice; with expertise in federal, state, and local tax issues affecting nonprofit organizations and their affiliates. Michele has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting, and has also served as chief financial officer for a large nonprofit social services agency and controller for an airplane manufacturing company. She has been a conference speaker on nonprofit taxation issues at both the local and national levels. Michele is licensed or authorized to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in numerous states and is also a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

Please arrive early to secure close-proximity parking. When departing, your parking charge will be waived by telling the attendant you attended the BMWL National Nonprofit Conference. Cancellations/Transfers/Concerns Conference tuition is not refundable. However, if a conflict arises that prevents you from being able to attend the Conference after you have registered, your registration can be transferred to another person from your organization or can be applied to tuition at a future Conference.
