Regional Economic Development Toolbox partner program How to partner with the RED TOOLBOX
The Regional Economic Development (RED) Toolbox Times are changing quickly. 47% of jobs will disappear over the next 15 years. Probably even more from regional Australia. The industry sectors Australia has depended on for the last 60 years are all in a state of radical transformation, impacted by the digital revolution, globalisation and the inability of governments worldwide to manage the change effectively. Traditional leadership has evaporated and the resulting vacuum is being filled by anybody with a popular scheme or vision to promote. Leadership by default is no leadership at all. Our education system is still structured for the old world, not the new. The digital revolution continues to connect, collaborate and integrate individuals into a new worldwide information network with enormous potential, largely unappreciated or leveraged by politicians, management teams and boards. We need to build Australia s sustainable, economic future on the foundation of our productive industries. We need to add value to the commodities we sell to the world. We need to expand the number of exporters in Australia and increase the value of the goods and services we sell. We need to collaborate actively, and share best practice examples of what works and what doesn t more quickly and widely. The RED Toolbox is a platform for supporting smart, connected and sustainable regional development. The RED Toolbox uses the web-based resources developed for the Manufacturing Toolbox, Agriculture Toolbox and Mining & Energy Toolbox. Visit 2
The Toolbox includes all regional industry sectors agriculture, medical & health, defence, mining, indigenous, manufacturing and tourism. The business showcase incorporates a curated selection of 5,000+ leading Australian producers and services in catalogue form 3 clicks to find anything. The RED Toolbox platform is built on open source content management system and learning management systems, providing a resource centre (manageable by partners), showcase (sector, region, cluster), news, events, blog and forum, and projects. The underlying structure (sectors, regions, states, clusters etc) is based on the results of over 50,000 surveys of SMEs and NFPs conducted over 15 years. Foundation members and partners can manage their section in the resource centre (videos, reports, documents, links etc), post events and blogs, participate in forums, and contribute themes, case studies and stories to the media and communication program. Partners will create and run regional events focused on key regional themes future of jobs and work in the regions, adding value to regional goods and services, how to sell regional goods and services to the world, regional collaboration and sharing, Regions 2020 and beyond etc. Partners will also support the annual SEGRA event. Partners can propose and contribute to projects designed to help communities. 3
AWARE News, information & ideas News, information and fresh ideas at your fingertips. News pages, blogs, ezines, Business Acumen magazine and industry networks. PROMOTE Products & services Products and services can be showcased nationally and internationally. 4
LEARN Online training courses Online training courses available from partners, through the 3 learning management systems in the Toolbox. SHARE Events, workshops & seminars Events, workshops, webinars and seminars promoted through partner networks, media and the toolbox events page. PARTNER Collaboration & partnership Organisations can join collaborative groups, forums and networks. PROJECTS From idea to delivery Partners suggest ideas, and collaborate to deliver projects both within Australia and overseas. 5
How to become a PARTNER This is your opportunity to collaborate and work together with others on a range of economic development issues and projects in our regions. Partnership options are offered to all RDAs, Councils and action based regional development organisations, corporates and government, businesses, not-for-profits and individuals in Australia. Engage and work with others on an ongoing basis focused on building capability across industry sectors, promoting export, adding value to regional businesses and organisations and creating a more fertile foundation for jobs and sustainable regions. The RED Toolbox offers significant value to individuals, businesses, not for profits, councils and RDAs in regional Australia, as well as to State and Federal governments. Become an active partner today, and work with others to help create jobs, increase exports, share ideas, projects and case studies, and put control of destiny back into the hands of regional Australia. 6
