The show will begin at 7:30 tonight in the College Gymnasium with Folksinger Alicia Cory, Tickets will be available at the door at $2.50 each.... ANOTHER A long-range plan between the College and the South- POLE-ISH STORY ern California Edison Company was realized last Monday when the remaining power pole was removed from campus. Workmen under the most recent site development project and the Edison Company placed all electric power lines underground, allowed by the power shut-down last weekend. This is part of the general campus beautification program developed under the office of Vice President for Administration. TWO CANDIDATES TO APPKAT? DM CAMPUS NEXT WEEK Appearances by two political candidates are scheduled on campus next week, sponsored by the Political Science Department. Talks by George Brown, former Congressman, seeking the Democratic nomination in the new 38th Congressional District, who will speak at 11 a.m. Monday, April 24,on the Fifth Floor of the Library, and Senator William Coombs, seeking re-election to the 20th Senatoral District, who will speak at 9 a.m., Friday, April 28, also on the Fifth Floor of the Library. The public is invited to attend.

3 "COLLEGE COURSES" LISTED IN FACULTY qookbook " Favorite and flavorful recipes of the CSCSB Faculty Wives have been compiled in the form of "College Courses," a cookbook now on sale in the Bookstore for $3 donation (tax deductible) per copy. Proceeds from the sale of the cookbook go toward the scholarship fund and other community activities of the Faculty Wives. Listed among the "prerequisite courses" are appetizers, canapes and soups. "Major and minor courses" include meats,poultry, seafood and vegetables. The attractive plastic-covered book designed by Marilyn Pace, contains "extra-curricular," "elective" and "extension"courses, also. The manuscript was prepared by Antreen Pfau and Barbara Robinson, coordinated by Iluminada Kellers. Other members of the cookbook committee are Donna Bas, Anne Crum, Kyla DeRemer, Joan Hatton, Jan Herold, Nancy Khare and Verla Thomas. HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE Counselors from high schools and area COUNSELORS CONFERENCE SET community colleges have been invited to FOR NEXT TWO THURSDAYS attend conferences sponsored by the College. Next Thursday, April 27,the high school counselors will be on campus to learn about the latest plans for curricular changes and other programs of the college- On Thursday, May 4, the college counselors will meet. CHILDREN'S ART Both conferences will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a tour of the Residence Halls and Library. Robert Blackey, Relations with Schools Officer,will serve as chairman for both conferences. All children from 5 to 12 are invited to the Children s Art Fair, a fun-filled day where young hands will create wood projects, model in sand and clay, weave, paint on easels, murals,balloons and all kinds of gadgets. The college event, part of the Fifth Arrowhead Allied Arts Festival, is sponsored by the Cal State Faculty Wives and will be held from 1 to 3:30 Saturday, April 29, in the Quad. A 10<: supplies for the children will be charged. Adults are invited to guided tours of the campus and stitchery demonstrations. 2

4 SPRING PLAY TO "The Revenger's Tragedy," described by Director OPEN ON MAY 12 William Slout as a "blood and thunder melodrama which has humor mixed with violent action," will open Friday, May 12, in the College's Little Theatre. The 17th Century play by Cyril Tourneur is the third and last play in a season entitled "A Panorama of the English Theatre," and is the Spring production of the Players of the Pear Garden. The cast is headed by Mike Tachia, Mike Stapleton, Dan Redfern. Supporting actors are Philip West, Muner Hanafi, Ron Albright, Ron Linares, Larry Brown, Barbara Nichols, Randi Stewart, Robert Elliott, Lori Capparelli, John Roth and Marvis Kisselburgh. The project, to provide active business involvement for students interested in the many areas of business, will give those students selected to the board opportunity to communicate with the public through on-floor selling, modeling and an active community service program. 5 PERSONALS - (Cont'd) Herbert Brown, Director of the Physical Plant, learned yesterday of the death of his mother in Minnesota, where services will be held. Roy E. Lohnes, brother of Robert Lohnes, Chief of Building Maintenance and Construction, died last Sunday in a Long Beach hospital. He was a 48-year residence of California Robert Blackey (History) participated on two panels at the California Scholarship Federation Conference held at UCR last Saturday for over 100 scholarship students. Russell DeRemer (Physics) lectured on "Careers in the Physical Science at Inyo County Schools Career Day held at Lone Pine High School on April 12. Richard Goodman (Biology) has an article, "The Game of 'Metabolism,'" in The American Biology Teacher, February, 1972 edition. The 5-page article is illustrated by photos by Wayne Wilbanks-(A-V Dept.) and Edna Steinman (Public Affairs). Betty Jackson (Music) will sing the role of "Suzuki" in Puccini's opera, "Madame Butterfly," tonight and tomorrow night at Ontario in the West End Opera Association's production. Miss Jackson, a well- < known mezzo-soprano, also served as a judge for the San Francisco j Opera auditions held in San Diego on March 19. Shirou Kunihira (Psychology) will report a study in psycholinguistic i at the Int'l Congress of Psychology to be held in Tokyo in August. The study,conducted with students in Advanced General Psychology classes, is entitled, "Effects of Phonetic Symbolism on Verbal Learning." ^, ^ i Stephen Morin (Psychology) will read a paper, "Social Comparison of Opinions Among Blind Children and Adolescents," at the Am. Psych. Assn., in Hawaii next September. Clifford Paynton (Sociology) delivered a paper, co-authored with Harvj Wichman (Psychology), on "A Drug Abuse Prevention Program: Some Significant Features and Results," at the Annual Meeting of the Pacific Sociological Assn. in Portland, Oregon, April The paper is bai on research and evaluation of the extensive drug prevention program, P.L.E.A.S.E., a 3-year project now in its second year, which is fundei by the Calif. Council of Criminal Justice. Drs.
