Standing in Solidarity Against New Pipelines On Monday evening, September 26, Eugene City Council voted to approve a resolution stating that Eugene supports the Standing Rock Sioux in their fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline. Yay! 4 The Dakota Access Pipeline, like all new pipelines, from the Keystone XL to the Pacific Connector, can not be built and we have to stop them. We need a constant presence at Eugene City Council meetings, 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. Can you plan to come once or twice this year, and be a new face and voice to let our elected leaders know we mean business? We will bring talking points. We can do this! 7 The Climate s Future Join 350PDX on Sunday, October 23rd for a special talk by Bill McKibben, world-renowned environmental activist, author and founder of 350.org, on the Climate s Future at the First Unitarian Church (1211 SW Main St in downtown Portland). 9 The team at Civil Liberties Defense Fund has been steadfast and wonderful in providing 350 Breakfree arrestees with legal advice and advocacy, not to mention courage. We want to support them by filling several tables at their dinner theater event. CLDC staff members and local actors will stage a mock trial involving front-line activists. It should be a fun and interesting evening.
