4 2018 Clinic Schedule Pre-Fishing Derby: Instructor: Gary Ginter - Semi-Pro Fisherman June 20th & 21st, 2018 at Tawawa Lake at Tawawa Park 9:30-10:30 a.m. - Grades K-8 Participants need to bring fishing poles. Participants will learn basic ways to cast, pitch and flip fishing poles; use of basic types of lures versus live bait; basic ways to increase their fish catching ability and to tie a good knot. Also, Gary will be displaying his fishing boat that he uses during his fishing competition. Come and learn how to properly fish. Gary s sponsors are Freedom Outdoors, Triton Boats, Mercury Outboards, Powerpole and Denali Rods. Must pre-register by June 15th, Fishing Derby: Sponsored by: Sidney Body Carstar Instructor: Parks & Recreation Dept. June 22nd at Tawawa Lake in Tawawa Park 9:00 am Check-in 9:15 am Derby Begins 10:15 am Derby Ends K-8 Participants should bring their own fishing tackle, pole, bait and bucket. 5 2018 Stories In The Parks Hosted by: Sidney Parks and Recreation in conjunction with Amos Memorial Library. Offered each Wednesday from June 14th - July 26th at 11:00 a.m. Included in the minute session will be stories and some group activities. No registration is necessary. August 3rd at Sidney Water Park 9:30-10:15 am K-6 We will offer relay races, balloon toss and biggest splash contest. Come and have a great morning at the water park. Must pre-register by August 1st, Movie Day Sponsored by: Dr. Alvetro s Office Movie Day at the Senior Center at 304 S. West Avenue June 8th, 2018 K-8 9:00-10:30 a.m. Popcorn will be served, & water. Art In The Park Clinic Instructor: Gateway Arts Council June 19th, 20th & 21st at Custenborder Field Shelter Area K-8 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Participants will make a new art project each day with the leaders from Gateway Arts Council. Must pre-register by June 15, Limited to 40 participants. Explore Nature at Tawawa Park Instructors: Ranger Justin Aselage July 11th at Geib Pavilion K-6 Grade 12:00-1:00 p.m. Learn about different types of animals, plants, trees, etc., that live and grow in Tawawa Park. Ranger Aselage will have pictures of the different types of animals, plants, and trees. The Ranger will be happy to answer any questions about the park as well. Need to pre-register by July 9th,
7 Walk in the Park Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Take steps to get fit while exploring nature in our beautiful Tawawa Park. Kids will explore different trails. Meet at Geib Pavilion in Tawawa Park. Please be sure that kids wear comfortable walking shoes that you don t mind getting dirty. Kids will walk between 1-2 miles per session. Every Monday and Wednesday from July 9th through July 25th Grades: K-8 9:30-10:15 a.m. Geib Pavilion at Tawawa Park Must pre-register by June 29th, Kids in Motion Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Get children moving by introducing them to physical activity in a fun, non-competitive environment. This clinic will include organized sports, games, fitness demos, and guided walks. Every Tuesday & Thursday from July 10th through July 26th. Grades: K-8 9:30-10:15 a.m. Geib Pavilion at Tawawa Park Must pre-register by July 6th, Dance Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Boogie down Children will learn different dance moves and line dancing. Children must know how to swim. Swimsuits and towels are required. Limited space is available, sign up early. 8 Everything that Flies Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Each session, we will explore something that flies from birds, planes and kites, etc. Each session will be held at the shelter house at Custenborder Field. There will be many different types of vehicles and equipment that children will be able to explore a firetruck, street sweeper and big vac truck. Grades K-5 June 27th, :30-10:30 Must pre-register by June 25th, Make a lawn using old sheets Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Make your own art canvas using an old sheet. You provide the old sheet and we will provide the arts and craft supplies and let your imagination do the rest. Be sure to wear old clothes and shoes that you don t mind getting paint on. 9 Books and Game Swap Instructors: Parks and Recreation Dept. Do you have video games, books, or CD s that are in good condition but you don t use them anymore? This clinic will give you an opportunity to exchange those used items for different ones at no charge. For each item you drop off, you will be given one ticket that can be used to exchange for a different game, book or CD. KIDS RUN FOR FUN Instructors: Can t Stop Running Co Staff This clinic is sponsored by: Dr. Alvetro and Can t Stop Running Grades K-6th July 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st 6:30pm-7:30pm at Tawawa Park Introducing kids to running, fitness, and wellness in a fun atmosphere. Games, races, learning stations, and guest speakers to encourage your child s health and wellness through running. Free program, come to any or all of the Tuesday evening sessions. Finish up with a kid s run at the CSRC Scholarship Run on August 4th. Must pre-register by July 6th.

14 Summer Backpack Program Sponsored By: Sidney Body Carstar, Buckeye Lincoln Ford, Emerson Climate, Lockington United Methodist Church, Cargill, Fish Community Thrift and Blanche Wilhide Circle Who is eligible: Every child attending the summer food program. Friday, June 8th thru Friday, August 10th, 2018 Ages: 1-18 Every Friday children will be provided with weekend meals. The packs come filled with nutritious, easy-to-open food that does not require stove-top cooking or refrigeration. The typical pack contains a variety of food usually including protein, fruit juices, cereal, granola bars and pudding cups. *Must be pre-registered with the Summer Food Program 13

Sidney Alive partners with United Way agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses & churches to provide a free morning of FUN for children ages 12 & under. August 1st: National Night Out, 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Over 37.8 million people in more than 16,000 communities will join forces to promote police-community partnerships; crime, drug & violence prevention; safety; and neighborhood unity. October 13th: Fall Festival, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Ghosts, goblins, superheroes and princesses will gather downtown for a costume contest and activities! A costume contest for ages 0-12 years will be held with registration from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with the contest beginning at 11:00 a.m. Visit Amos Memorial Public Library, Ron & Nita s & for more fun! Some participating downtown businesses will also pass out candy. November 16th: Winter Wonderland Parade, 6:30 p.m. See our downtown all dressed up for the holidays and enjoy a wonderful evening parade, complete with Santa & Mrs. Claus! The Reason for the Season Lighting Ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. with the parade stepping off at 7:30 p.m. We ask that all spectators remain on the sidewalk during the parade for everyone s safety. December 1st: Christmas of Yesteryear, Times Vary Enjoy the sights, tastes & sounds of a Historic Downtown Sidney Christmas, complete with horse & carriage rides.
