1 SERVING CITIZENS OF FULTON COUNTY 60 YEARS & OVER SENIOR APRIL 2014 Fulton County Senior Center 240 Clinton St., Wauseon, Ohio Phone: Fax: SENIOR NEWS GOOD FRIDAY BREAKFAST z z B- SENIOR SPOTLIGHT SECRET FLASH MOB PROMOTES CENTER NEW CLUB FOR VETERANS All Fulton County veterans age 60 and over are invited to join the Veterans Coffee Club. NEW LOOK TO DELIVERED MEALS If you receive home-delivered meals, you will soon notice a new look to your meal tray. We are excited about the Oliver meal packaging system that is on free lease to us from the Grand Rapids, Michiganbased, company. At no additional cost to tax-payers, we are trying out the Oliver system that will allow meals to be re-heated with ease. Our talented kitchen staff will serve up the same tasty meals as before, only now in more earth-friendly packaging that allows you to freeze and re-heat your meal, if needed. Please follow these instructions for re-heating a meal. Peel back lid to vent or slit film in each compartment. Re-heat meal in microwave for 2 to 3 minutes maximum on high. To re-heat your meal in a conventional oven, place meal on a baking sheet and heat in pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes maximum. Note: do not use toaster ovens to re-heat packaged meals under any circumstances! Refrigerate cold meals immediately. fulton Seniors and staff joined the Wauseon and Evergreen cheerleaders in the first-ever Fulton County Senior Center flash mob on Friday, February 14 at half-time of the Wauseon varsity boys basketball game. What s a flash mob? A flash mob is a spontaneous, secret planned dance event in which a select group of people participate to raise awareness of their group or to just have fun and spread joy. Nancy Avina said, I kept it a secret from my husband Paul until two days before it happened. He made plans to attend a basketball game in Stryker the same night as the Wauseon game. You just ruined my secret! I told him, So Nancy revealed that she was involved in something during halftime, but did not give Paul any details. He asked if I would embarrass him and I told him, No, but I d love for you to be there! So he came to the Wauseon game to watch. It was so much fun! I really enjoyed it, Nancy said. Bill and Opal Taylor are no strangers to the dance floor, as they used to square and round dance with Skirts & Shirts Dance Club of Delta. We won a jitterbug contest 17 years ago this month. We were in the audience at Wauseon High School to watch the musical Grease. They invited audience members to come onstage and dance. And we won the contest! Will a future flash mob be organized? Kenny Bell hopes so. Bell said, I joined the flash mob because I like to dance and have fun. I met my wife years ago when I saw her on a dance floor. I hope the Senior Center has more things like the flash mob. I would get in on it every time! county senior Center Services Home Delivered Meals Congregate Meals Education & Socialization Monthly Newsletter (The Senior B-zz) Transportation Service for Medical Appointments Housekeeping Information & Referral Grocery Shopping & Bill Paying Transportation as Scheduled Notary Services Legal Services Blood Pressure Checks Available Daily at Wauseon Site and Scheduled at Other Sites Blood Sugar Level Checks - As Scheduled Exercise Classes - As Scheduled Lending Libraries Assistance With Completing Applications and Claims Volunteer Opportunities Gym Available at Wauseon Site to Exercise During Regular Business Hours Computer Lab at Wauseon Site

Just Us 2 provided boppin music for the dancers. Decorations included vinyl LPs, fuzzy dice, cupcakes that resembled ice cream sodas and a handmade juke box created by Swanton seniors, Charles and Joanne Dreps. We used cardboard from an appliance store, duct tape, a vinyl awning that blew off the house during bad weather and stuff from our garage and kitchen cupboard to make the juke box, Joanne said. We worked on it a little bit at a time when the snow kept us at home. It helped us stay sane since we couldn t leave the house! Joanne explained.
