3 It was a very special moment administering the oath of office to our newest police officers in the presence of their families and friends at the July council meeting. I am confident that the five new officers will be an asset to the police department and will serve the township with pride & distinction. Congratulations to Anthony Davanzo, Attilio Dente, Kimberly Diaz, Joseph Camilleri and Andres Morales. Mayor Bob White St. Philip s 2017 Summer Festival of fun was a blast. Everyone enjoyed the rides, food and games. The annual Township Fishing Derby was held June 10th at Otto Pehle Lake in Saddle River County Park. The weather was beautiful and the kids had a great day of fishing. Thank you to the members of the Saddle Brook Kiwanis Club for sponsoring and running the Derby and providing refreshments. A big shout out to Matt Benus for arranging to have the lake stocked with Channel Catfish, Bullheads, Crappies, Blue Gills and Bass. Also, Christine Genuario for supervising registration and helping organize the event. Special thanks to our good friend JoAnn Brendel for taking these fantastic photos! All participants received trophies. The Derby winners were: 1st Pl. BRIAN TUOHY with 18 Carp;2nd Pl. JOELLE APRUZZESE with 13.5 Catfish; Pg. 3 3rd Pl. CAHILL SLOWIK with 12.5 Bass.

8 After our local AARP meeting July 10, 2017, Officers Sansevere and Lopera of the Bergen County Sheriff s Office K9 Unit did a presentation and demonstration with their police canines. K9 teams are used by the Bergen County Sheriff s Office and other law enforcement agencies throughout the state for many different tasks and situations. Each K9 team consists of an officer and a canine partner that has been trained in a specific skill, including criminal apprehension, explosives, narcotics, tracking, etc. We thank Joseph Lecce our new AARP President for organizing the event with the Bergen County Sheriff Department. The officers and their canine partners put on a great show!
