3 SUBMISSION INFORMATION The editor invites the submission of articles dealing with the history of and the Middle Atlantic region, regardless of their specialty. Prospective authors are urged to review past issues of History: A Journal of Mid-Atlantic Studies, where they will note articles in social, intellectual, economic, environmental, politi cal, and cultural history, from the distant and recent past. Articles may investigate new areas of research or they may reflect on past scholarship. Material that is prima rily of an or antiquarian nature genealogical will not be considered. History publishes documents previously unpublished and of interest to scholars of the Middle Atlantic region. The Journal also reviews books, exhibits, and other media dealing primarily with history or that shed significant light on the state's past. The PHA welcomes proposals on a wide range of themes and from numer ous disciplines, including but not limited to history, material culture, educational strategies and theories, and museum studies. There is no overarching topic that will
4 define this next conference, but given the focus of public and academic attention on the tercentenary of Benjamin Franklin's birth to this topic are particularly welcome.
