2 Notes and News from the Summer of General Manager Mike Schenk CIC Scene Summer is starting to fade now as our staff, and many CIC children are back in school and the CIC Summer routine is now a distant memory. As we now head into fall and clambakes, the club evolves for quieter moments and reflection. The sunsets are just as pretty and the moments are just as special. The Close Down the Pool party and Doggie Swim is just around the corner. If you have a classic car you wish to show off, give us a call and let us know what kind of car. By now the song of the Beatles is still fresh in our memories. What a great way to end the summer and blast off to Labor Day Weekend. Just a reminder Fireworks will be on Saturday, September the 2nd at dusk. This will be a huge show our biggest ever to call to a close the Golden Anniversary Summer of Thanks for spending time with us and for allowing us to serve. Summer musings Alas, Mr. Hale seemed like a lost soul while his wife was traveling in Europe. He soon discovered that once he trashed the boat in her absence, it was not going to get straightened up by itself. Mrs. Johnson on her usual Marina Patrol Saturday mornings making sure all is safe. Kevin Houser on his morning walk to Dog Poop Hill, hair askew, looking like the night before got the best of him. The morning Crockett walk, dog in tow, a friendly face, smile and morning "Hello Mike. How are you doing?". Mr. Dabney when asked how was he doing commented "way better that I deserve". This may or may not be true but not my call for sure. Tee It Up for Tuition generated four scholarships for some CIC interns and it was a treat having Greg Kelser and Andre Hutson on board to discuss college basketball and other sports. They both are great friends of CIC and made the day for sure.' Ron Gesci had an Epic Party for his 75th Birthday and he said "it was the best party in all of CIC history." I was listening in on Mrs. Debbink while she lunched with 3 lady friends and regarding our onion soup she said our "onion soup is the best". Yes and then Mrs. Frantz signed her husband up for the Intern Minion Party and yes even now I am not sure what the plan was? The Boyz in the Hood have been suspiciously quiet this past summer and leads me to wonder what is next? Could it be true that Jane Doddridge actually broke her foot while pole dancing? More on this later! Now we are on to college football and the inevitable question and the blatant harassment will begin. Can Sparty make a come back? Will the Buckeyes win it all? U of M a power house again so all the challenges and conference rivalries heat up again. Check out the newsletter dates for all the upcoming fun and keep a close eye out for my blasts, little secrets shared. Plan now for Thanksgiving dinner here at CIC. We have the best deal, you have no mess or fuss, and get leftovers packed up for you. How about our Catawba Delivery options if you just want to stay home, kick off your shoes and unwind. We are here to serve no matter what, so give us a call and make CIC the date for Thanksgiving Thursday, November 23. As I reflect on 50 years of CIC and look over old and new pictures of past and present CIC members and events, I had to share this thought. Each member I have had the pleasure to interact with over the years has made a difference in the CIC lifestyle and history. Whether you have been with us for 50 years or 6 months the commitment we make to you is the same. We want you to relax, kick back and let life s struggles and tensions drift off. You can be assured of one thing, and that is, we treasure your time at CIC and your time is of value to us at every point of your day. Lastly, the CIC kids are your kids and our kids. For 35 years now the kids games, Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween, although sometimes the same, are a joy to work. Back in the day with Candice Ihrbacher and now with Aly and Bethany and many others in between, we have had some great times and, of course, some laughs.. You see some things are always the same at CIC as others evolve. One fact is that our leader Jim Stouffer is the consummate Hospitalitarian if there is such a word. We follow the lead and we thank you for the going on the ride. God Bless each and every one of you as you all have made a difference in our lives here on the Catawba Peninsula. So whether you are in God's hands or at the playground of CIC today, we thank you. Yes, even you, Dick Rose! See you around the club and thanks for sharing your family time with us. We hope you enjoyed a super summer season and created many family memories. Manager Mike 2 15
