3 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK Dear Parishioners, When I was studying for the priesthood in the seminary, there was a priest on the faculty who told us seminarians how important it was to begin each day by praising God, and to end each day giving thanks. The rhythm of a life of prayer is praise and gratitude, glorifying God for his goodness, and thanking him for his gifts. Today s Gospel focuses both on the healing power of Christ and our need to respond with gratitude when we experience healing. In the story, Jesus cured ten lepers a miracle that not only cured them physically, but also restored them to their families and communities. Outcasts no longer, they were able to resume the activities of their old way of life. One of the lepers, upon realizing he was cured, knew that there was one thing he had to do before he returned to his family and friends. He ran back to Jesus, fell at his feet and gave thanks. He was filled with gratitude for all that God had done for him. As we contemplate this Gospel story, let us never cease thanking God for the gift of his healing presence in our lives. God s Blessings, Fr. Our goal for the school year is to raise more than $1,500. HELP SHAPE OUR FUTURE! Come join fellow parishioners for our Parish Reflection Session! Saturday, Nov p.m. Parish Center Building on key themes from Archbishop Listecki s Pastoral Letter, Who Do You Say That I am?, we ll reflect and pray together about what makes our faith relevant in today s world. We ll consider some of the challenges we face, share insights and generate creative ideas about how best to go forward as an Archdiocese. Invite others to join you. Your thoughts matter! Need more information? Contact our Parish Synod representative, David Wollman, at davidwollman66@hotamail.com or (262) Note: you do not need to have read the Pastoral Letter to participate, but you can find the letter and other information at EUCHARIST TO THE HOMEBOUND If any Eucharistic Minister to the homebound has a pyx that is no longer needed, please return it to the sacristy or the parish office. Thank you! FREE BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS St. Francis de Sales offers free blood pressure screenings on the second Sunday of each month. Our nurses will personally check your blood pressure and heart rate, and discuss your medications. Our next date: Sunday, Oct. 13, 8:30-11:00 a.m., in the Parish Office. ANGEL FUND St. Francis de Sales Parish School is benefitted by the Angel Fund. This is a designated fund that was started to help families of our day school program who are in need of tuition assistance. It is funded by donations from generous parishioners and by bequests. If a school family is in need of tuition assistance, they apply to a company called TADS. This application can be done either online or on paper, and it is completely confidential. Applications are available in either the school or parish offices. TADS make a financial determination as to how much tuition the family can be expected to pay and sends this information to Father Jim and Mr. Wieters. They will then contact the family and make further arrangements. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause, please use the pink envelopes in your packets, or earmark your check or cash for the Angel Fund. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
