2 The National Bar Association s Annual Mid-Winter Meeting will be held Thursday, February 14, 2013 through Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort & Casino in Nassau, Bahamas. REGISTRATION INFORMATION Registration includes: Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars, One (1) A. Leon Higginbotham Luncheon ticket, all welcome and networking receptions. HOTEL INFORMATION The Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort & Casino (P.O. Box No. 4914, West Bay Street, ) is the official hotel for the National Bar Association s (NBA) Mid-Winter Meeting. The room rate for the meeting is $ per room, single or double occupancy, plus 18% tax and a daily $20 resort fee. All reservations must be accompanied by the first night s room deposit. The deposit will hold a room until you arrive. Jurists, especially those who preside over criminal proceedings, are often required to explain the collateral consequences of a conviction. Does potential unlimited money constitute a disproportionate threat to judges of color? Sponsored By: Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and NBA Young Lawyers Division This panel would be comprised of three panelists discussing pipeline issues that are in the legal profession today and specifically how to increase the pipeline to the Judiciary. The panel will start with a discussion about Fisher and the attack on affirmative action. It will focus on the kind of effect that will have on the number of African-Americans going to law school. The panel discussion will then move to the pipeline to the judiciary and focus on the kind of training young attorneys need to become successful candidates for the bench.
