TEEN - YOUNG ADULT THE LIBRARY Two Day Writers Workshop with Kartik Shah Tuesday, June 9th and Wednesday, June 10th 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Back by popular demand! Indian Hills High School senior Kartik Shah will present a writing workshop which will get kids excited about the beauty of writing & motivating teens/tweens to enjoy the writing process. 3 Big Six Party Thursday, June 11th 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. This party is JUST for Franklin Lakes students who have graduated 5th grade and are moving on to middle school. Come meet other new 6th graders, enjoy refreshments, and learn about all the library services and events available to you as sixth graders. Open to Franklin Lakes residents only. Call the Adult Reference x 106 for more info. Teen Tech Class - Electro-Luminescent Wiring Thursday, June 23rd 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Electro-Luminescent wire is like neon lighting. This thin copper wire is coated in phosphor which glows when current is applied. You will learn how to prepare, bend, terminate and power an electro-luminescent display. With the skills you learn in this class you will be able to create a more elaborate animated display on your own using Arduino or other embedded controllers. Space is limited! Board Games and Ice Cream Sundaes Wednesday, June 24th 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Play Chess, Checkers, Dominoes, Apples to Apples and more! After the game make you own ice creme sundae!!! 4 Drop-In Craft in the Teen Room every Friday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Teens Teaching Teens Would you like to teach a class to other teens at the library? You might choose to teach a class on something you are really good at - for example, would you like to show a group of teens how to make duct tape bracelets, origami, decorate flip-flops or sneakers beading, nail art, scrapbooking, rock painting, knitting, or simply show off your favorite apps? 5 sign-up in person anytime during regular library hours. Every member of the Summer Reading Club receives a prize just for joining! Read as many books as you like throughout the summer and keep record of how many you've read on your official reading log. Then let us know how you're doing when you visit the library. Origami with Linda Bogan Monday, June 25th 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The art of Origami (Japanese paper folding) is a beautiful, calming activity.
