11 JOINING INSTRUCTIONS OVERVIEW Parents & Cadets: Read the Joining Instructions for your course at 330aircadets.com/summer-training

12 GETTING READY Clothing & Equipment Follow the kit list Don t bring lots of civilian clothing (civvies) You need to bring your Dress Uniform Medical & Dental Make sure you health card is not expiring Get your appointments out of the way Bring enough prescription meds for the summer (no pharmacy at camp) Glasses: bring a second pair, or at the very least a prescription

13 GETTING READY Immunization Be up-to-date Current Health Status If anything changes between now and when you board the bus contact the summer training officer! Hair Cut & Positive Attitude Be ready for a fun summer. Make sure your hair and your attitude meets the standard BEFORE boarding the bus

14 GETTING THERE Transport Transportation to and from the CTC is provided at no expense to the cadet or family Cadets must travel in uniform (C-2B) Parents can drop off their cadet, but must inform the CO beforehand If traveling over a meal hour, meal is provided ( or or ) All parents/guardians must complete a Cadet Transportation Form (Annex E). Cadets must bring this form to camp.

15 BEING THERE In-Clearance Paperwork Security & Safety Kit Check Interview Health Assessment by Medical Staff Security & Safety Kit Check Be honest Don t bring anything on the prohibited items list Make sure you bring the necessary items to successfully complete training or you could be RTU d. RTU Returned to unit (sent home).

16 BEING THERE Services & Facilities Sleeping Accommodation gender-specific Cafeteria styled military Mess Hall, 3 times daily Canteen MIR / on-site clinic Telephones / Cell phones Laundry Worship / Spiritual / Counselling services Banking don t keep more than $40 in your locker MIR medical inspection room

19 BEING THERE Banking Banking service on site (no ATMs / debit on site) Training Bonus Cadets are paid $60 / week cash Visits / Leave Cadets train 6 days a week ( hrs) Parents are thus strongly encouraged to confine any visits to evening hours or weekend See JIs for camp specific regulations on Leave Leave Form / Fortress for authorized adults JIs Joining Instructions

20 BEING THERE Personal Appearance & Standards Same as LHQ Hygiene VERY important, shower daily Discipline & Deportment Code of Conduct RTU Smoking / Drinking / Drugs Zero tolerance LHQ Local Headquarters

21 BEING THERE Fraternization Zero tolerance Return to Unit (RTU) A cadet may be RTU d for: - serious disciplinary problems - medical reasons - upon parental request - a training failure - by order of the Commanding Officer of the CTC At the parents expense CTC Cadet Training Centre

22 BEING THERE Grad Graduation dates are in JIs Parents can attend Cadets do not depart immediately following graduation parades (they need to Out-Clear)

23 COMING HOME Departure Transportation to and from the CTC is provided at no expense to the cadet or family Parents can pick up their cadet Fill out Annex E properly if a parent changes their mind, notify the CTC immediately (wastes tax dollars)

24 FAQ Not Feeling Well? Mail Sending a care package is awesome! See JIs for address Cadets can be escorted to the clinic. DND medical staff (Doctors and Nurses) evaluate If required, the cadet will be transported to a civilian hospital Not unusual for cadets to pull muscles, have a sore throat, get a sunburn Homesick? Every cadet gets homesick Parents be strong it s new for your cadet, and they have the support to keep them going Calls home Cell phones / Wifi / Technology Connaught CTC has WIFI Cellphones are only permitted during free time, and are handed in every night Big electronics are not permitted Family/Friend Visits (other than parents) Make sure they are on the Annex for Leave / Guests
