1 1 May 2018 Dear Cadet, It is our pleasure to have you attend the California Cadet Corps 2018 Advanced Summer Encampment. We would like to congratulate you on your unit assignment and thank you for taking the initiative and applying for the annual summer encampment. We are confident that by attending summer encampment you will acquire new skills, assume leadership roles, and form camaraderie within your units, all while enjoying yourself. This summer encampment will be conducted the 13th through 20th of July The following information is provided for your parents/guardians and yourself regarding the summer encampment: 1. UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: a. The unit of assignment roster can be found at Please review the list and ensure that all information regarding your assignment is correct. If there are any misspellings and/or changes in rank please notify the staff by sending an to and with the required correction. 2. LEADERSHIP: a. Cadets who have been selected as Leadership for the 2018 Advanced Summer Encampment and have been ordered to attend ADVON by their unit adult instructors (not all cadet leaders are required during the ADVON), are expected to arrive at Camp San Luis Obispo, 10 Sonoma Avenue, Bldg 1301, NLT 2000, 10 July ADVON will take place 10 July 2018 through 13 July 2018, with the 10th being a travel day. The DFAC is available for dinner between Each cadet is responsible for contacting their unit adult instructors. If your unit adult instructor has ordered you to attend ADVON and you are unable to meet this requirement, you must notify michelle.salazar@cacadet.org. HQ CACC is not providing transportation for cadets attending ADVON. Coordinate with your commandant to arrange transportation, and contact me if you are unable to do so. b. The action of Leaders arriving prior to the main body will provide the instructors an opportunity to brief and train cadre on expectations, as well as allow leaders to prepare for their assigned duties.

2 3. TRANSPORTATION: a. All Cadets (with the exception of some cadet leaders) will arrive at Camp San Luis Obispo on 13 July Pickup points and times will be published on the website well before the encampment. b. All Cadets are to arrive in a proper Class C Uniform and are to insure hair is within regulation. 4. AWARDS CEREMONY INVITATION: a. See 2018 Advanced Summer Encampment Awards Ceremony Invitation (Appendix A). 5. PACKING LIST: a. See 2018 Advanced Summer Encampment Packing List (Appendix B). 6. EMERGENCY CONTACT: a. (805) is the emergency contact for this summer encampment. It will be staffed at all times as to insure proper response time in the given event of an emergency. 7. WEB INFORMATION: a. As we approach the summer encampment, all updates regarding the 2018 Advanced Summer Encampment will be posted on both the California Cadet Corps website ( and California Cadet Corps social media; Instagram ; Facebook Cadet Corps. 3 Dear Parents and Guardians, Appendix A 2018 Advanced Summer Encampment Awards Ceremony Invitation It is with much gratitude that we thank you for allowing your cadet(s) to attend our annual California Cadet Corps Summer Advanced Camp! During their time at summer camp they will experience rigorous training courses that test their physical, mental, and spiritual skills as a leader. They will have spent numerous hours away from home improving themselves as cadet leaders and their actions will not go unnoticed. On behalf of the California Cadet Corps, we would like to formally invite you to the Advanced Summer Encampment graduation! Advanced Summer Encampment graduation will take place on the July 20th commencing at 12:00 PM, on the field near the 700 buildings of Camp San Luis Obispo. The graduation ceremony will be a Pass In Review style ceremony where all units participating in the summer camp will receive their awards and march in honor of successfully completing their courses. The Pass In Review ceremony is one of the oldest military traditions and is performed at the end of each California Cadet Corps summer encampment. We recommend you bring a folding chair if possible, as seating is limited. There are no fees to attend cadet graduation and we encourage all parents to attend. Security Forces at the Camps entrance will require vehicle drivers to present a valid drivers license and copy of automobile insurance and registration to enter the camp. Once you enter the camp you will be directed by cadet leaders on where to park for the graduation. For furthermore questions feel free to contact raul.perez@cacadet.org. 4 Appendix B 2018 Advanced Summer Encampment Packing List We recommend packing all uniforms in a gourmet bag, or bag of similar purpose, and packing the remainder of items in a single military style duffle bag for ease of transportation. These bags are generally available at military surplus stores and online. Complete Class B uniform (prepared on a hanger) including: Black Dress Shoes or Black Boots Pants (Skirts Optional for Female Cadets) Shirt White Crew Neck T-shirt Awards and decorations Insignia (CAL, CORPS, Rank, DUI ) where appropriate Belt and buckle (brass) Complete Class C uniform, including: Boots (black or tan) Pants Blouse White Crew Neck T-shirt Belt and buckle (black) Insignia (Rank) Complete P.T. Uniform Black P.T. Crew Neck Black P.T. Shorts Over the ankle white P.T. Socks Tennis Shoes/ Running Shoes Headgear Black Beret, Red Beret, Garrison Cap, and/or Utility Cap Note; All Cadets will be given a cap corresponding with their respective units Undergarments Long Socks (7 pairs, Black) Undergarments (7 Pairs) White Crew Neck Undershirt (5 recommended)
