2 JAMES EARL KENNEDY UNIT MARINE CORPS LEAGUE AUXILIARY Auxiliary meeting held October 9, 2017 by President Christine Zakian. Rhonda Kuhn, Chaplain gave the opening prayer Next regular meeting is Monday November 13, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the American Legion Post on High St. Burlington, NJ Respectfully Submitted Secretary AMZ COMMANDANT S CORNER I would like to welcome our two new members to the detachment. They are Paul Dimarco and William Lohdamm. We had about 28 members show up this month. We discussed the move of the detachment to another location. We will be taking a vote on this at our Jan meeting. The season for Toys for Tots is just about to start. A covered dish dinner will be held at Bill Wilson's house on Oct 26, for those working for TFT. I would hope that our new members and existing members will actively join in helping. We still have a couple more Rose programs to do. We have one of our members in rehab after falling at his house, he would like to have visitors from the Det come visit. Another member invited members to join him at a Breakfast for Veterans Day on Nov 10th. A member of the American Legion asked us to write letters of encouragement to a recruit at Parris Island MCRD. I am available if anyone needs me, you can call me on my cell phone I hope to see everyone at our next meeting. 4 MCL Detachment #695 meeting minutes for October 9, 2017 MCL Detachment # 695 Meeting Minutes for October 9, 2017 The was opened by Commandant Bill Bargerhuff at 7:00pm. Sgt. -at-arms John Harpool led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance. Jr. Vice Commandant/ Chaplain Lynward Hunter led the members in prayer. ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS Commandant, Bill Bargerhuff Present Sr. Vice Commandant, Franco Cambria- Present Jr. Vice President/Chaplain, Lynward Hunter- Present Judge Advocate, Don Matthews- Present Adjutant/Paymaster, Mike Rainbolt- Excused Sgt.-at-Arms, John Harpool- Present Good of the League The James Earl Kennedy Unit MCL Auxiliary was invited into the meeting for a short time to discuss gift basket donations for the upcoming USMC Birthday Ball. Needed: bottles and baskets for Basket of Cheer Baskets of cheer will be limited to a quantity of 6. Contact Christine Zakian for information. After the completion of that discussion they returned to their regular monthly meeting. Application for New Members: Marines Paul E. DiMarco, William A Lohdamm were sworn in as new members. Welcome aboard Marines!! A ten minute recess was called to welcome them aboard. Minutes: Minutes of the September 11, 2017 meeting were approved by unanimous vote. Paymaster Report: Paymaster was excused from the meeting. There was no report. Officers Report: JVC Lynward Hunter asked all in attendance to take a few minutes after the meeting to update their contact information on the forms at the Sgt.-at-Arms table. Correspondence: Bob Matkowski received a letter from Virtua Hospital Commandant. Bill Bargerhuff read a letter from I got a letter from Frank Caruso, requesting that some veterans write to a recruit at Parris Island MCRD. his name is RCT Sexton, Robert 3RD RTBN INDIA CO PLT 3092 PO BOX 16325, Parris Island SC Any letters of encouragement would be appreciated. Toys for Tots: There will be a meeting of helpers at Bill Wilsons house on Thursday October 26, 2017 at 5:00 pm. This will be a covered dish event. There will be an Antique Car Show at Johnson s Farm on Saturday November 18, Time 11:00am-3:00pm. Eagle Scout Court of Honor: For Stephen Estacio Troop 48 on Saturday October 28, 2017 at 3:00pm Location Protestant Community Church of Medford Lakes NJ Mike Rainbolt and Lynward Hunter will attend. Old Business: Updated information was given about a possible monthly meeting location change. Several locations have been discussed including the VFW in Medford NJ and the VFW on Pearl Street in Burlington will be made available to us for monthly meetings. (No flat fee for this space, however, donations are accepted). Judge Advocate Don Matthews clarified the bylaws covering meeting location change. We also need to amend our detachment by-laws to come in line with National. Our detachment by-laws require a 2/3 of members present to change the by-laws. National s by-laws require a majority present. Per our detachment by-laws the members of the detachment must be notified of the proposed change three times. Marine Corps Ball, our celebration of the Marine Corps Birthday will be held on Saturday November 11, 2017 at the Deerwood Country Club 845 Woodlane Road, Mt. Holly, NJ. This is the same location as last year. Cost: $40.00 per person. Good of the League: The 2018 MCL National Convention will be held in Buffalo NY from August 13 to August 17, (insert rest of the info).
