5 ust Fire Chief Monthly Report Page 5 TRAINING / EDUCATION (ust ): The Training Office gathers information on post-secondary education, certificates of completion, and major conferences. SFD provides daily drills and other types of training; the more significant training and educational achievements are included in this Report. Total Training for ust: 11 Trainings 629 Attendees Total Hours of 1,76 Required Training: Monthly training and FireHouse updates delivered to all members. The training covered FireHouse software training reports and the updated training for the next six months. Total training for the last six months: 738 for a total of 16,377 hours for the district. These hours meet the mandates required by ISO, NFPA, OSHA, Civil Rights, ADHS, and Special Operations. Conferences: EMS Difficult Airway course to learn the full range of airway management techniques including use of medication-assisted intubation (including RSI) and cricothyrotomy. We have four members from the EMS Committee that will deliver this training to the district in September. SFD hosted the Traffic Incident Management Responder course program and administered through the Federal Highway Administration. This unique course for first responders promotes a shared understanding of the requirements for safe, quick clearance at traffic incident scenes; prompt, reliable and open communications; and motorist and responder safeguards. To be effective, this course requires a mix of disciplines to include Law Enforcement, Fire, Transportation, EMS, public safety, towing and recovery, public works and HazMat disciplines. 93 attended this class and there were no associated costs. Chiefs Kazian and Lechowski attended a variety of classes at the Fire Rescue International Conference to benefit the district. Certificates Incident Safety Officer class examines the Safety Officer s role at all-hazards type of situations. Firefighters Romig and Koistinen attended. Captain Rippy and Engineer Lewis completed Instructor I certification. These members will be on the forefront in instructing classes within our organization s Train the Trainer program. Arizona Center for Fire Service Excellence acknowledges this class and exam.
