9 SCHOLARSHIPS Frainier-Turner Art Scholarship Presented by Martha Horohoe Cara Manzella Ruth Frainier, a SHA graduate, and my mother, Geraldine Turner (Horohoe) were fellow art teachers and friends. When Ruth found out that her husband s military career was taking him away from WNY, she called my mom who applied for and got Ruth s art teaching job. This enabled my mother to move back to the Buffalo area and live with her new husband. Both were women who loved art and teaching. Ruth recently died and my mom would like to offer this scholarship in honor of her friend who changed my mother s life for the better. It should be someone who is a) very artistically talented, b) academically excellent, c) crazy about art (i.e. cannot live without it) hopefully, with the idea of studying art beyond high school. This scholarship is in the amount of $1,000. Scanlon Scholarship Sarah Yeager This award is given to a student entering the senior year who exemplifies the Sacred Heart Academy spirit of personal development preparing her to have a positive impact on the world and who shows academic achievement, school and community service, and leadership.
