WaynesharedthatwhenhebecameChiefScoutExecutive,hewentastepfurtherandtrackeddownhisown Scoutmasterfrom50yearsago,foundthathewasstillalive,andbroughtthemtoanationalmeetingashisguests topubliclythankthemforwhattheydidforhim. Awards WorldPresidentFredBrenner&InternationalCommissionerBrianThiessenthenpresentedtheChiefwiththe CliffDochtermanAward,recognizinghisyearsofserviceasaRotarian,hisgenerositytotheFellowshipbyallow ingourdisplaysatnationalmeetingsandthejamboree,andhisdecadesofservicetoscouting. Specialpresentationswerealsomade,includingtheSilverWheeltoIFSRWebmasterSteveHenninginapprecia tionofhisyearsofservicetothefellowship.iardano BrienpresentedjamboreetravelmugstoSuzanne&An gusmacfarlaneinappreciationfortheirleadershipandhardworkpreparingthejamboreebooth.inturn,the MacFarlanespresentedFredBrenner,BrianThiessenandDanO Briencustomizedwalkingsticksinthanksfortheir support. AbouttheBSAJamboreeandtheSummit Thejamboree,heldattheBoyScoutsofAmerica s newesthighadventurebaseinbeckley,westvir ginia,showcasedboyscoutingandventuringto 40,000Scouts,leadersandvolunteerstaff.The 11,000acrecamp,knownasTheSummit:Bechtel FamilyScoutReservedefinitelyraisesthebarfor modernextremeactivities,includingziplines,can opytours,whitewaterrafting,mountainboarding, askateparkandmuchmore.

3 Page 3 Largelyawalkingcamp,staffandscouts alikegenerallywalkedfivemilesormore eachday,traversingupanddownthe mountainsofwestvirginia.visitorswere shuttledinviaa20minutebusrideand wererequiredtoparticipateinayouth Protectionorientation.Unfortunately, thatmadeaquick,dropinforlunchby localrotariansachallenge.muchwas learnedaswewereintroducedtoanew paradigmandwebeginthinkingabout thenextbsajamboreein2017,followed bythesummithostingthe2019world ScoutJamboree. RotaryBoothat2013BSAJamboree Angus&SuzanneMcFarlane,lifetimeIFSRmembersfromAda,Oklahoma,weresowellpreparedinestablishing ourboothatthebechtelsummitreserveforthebsa2013nationaljamboreethattheymadeitlookeasyto handle!theboothsawthousandsofscouts,scoutersandvisitorsduringthebsa2013nationaljamboree.there werethreegoalsofthebooth: IntroduceRotarianstothefellowshipiftheywerenotawareofit. IntroducenonRotarianstoRotaryandthefellowship. IntroduceScoutsandvisitorstoInteract,Rotaract,andthefellowship. WelcomeFellowshipMemberstothejamboree.
