1 (Domestic enrolments) Overview Course Summary The Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) offers students a holistic approach to caring for the aged. With exceptional job outcomes in a growing sector, this Certificate program will offer individuals a supportive learning environment and unique opportunities to develop the physical, mental and emotional skills associated with the human services area. If you have a genuine desire to care for and be of service to the elderly, we encourage you to investigate the benefits of working in this rewarding field. Successful completion of the Certificate III in Individual Support qualifies graduates to work as Personal Care Workers in the Community Services and Residential Aged Care Sector. This qualification offers a direct entry pathway into the Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2) and Diploma of Community Services programs. Important note: This program requires a National Police Check obtained through the South Australian Police. See details on the SAPOL website, and in the Entry Requirements section, below. Content A wide variety of content is covered in the Certificate and includes providing individualised support, providing personal care, dementia care, palliative care, orientation to the aged care work industry and much more. As part of its commitment to holistic training, EQUALS provides learners with additional study and personal development in the following modules: Introduction to Ayurveda / Integrative Health Study skills Safe handling practices (formerly manual handling) Introduction to Human Rights Spiritual Intelligence Tuition Fee Amenities Fee Duration: Study Mode: Intakes: Qual Code: RPL? VET Student Loans Available? Resources Required International? Subsidised through Work Ready for eligible participants 8 weeks full-time (or part time equivalent). Industry Experience Students will complete 160 hours of industry placement in an approved aged care (or equivalent) facility. The placement is included as part of the course duration. Applications that are incomplete or incorrect may not be considered. Course offers for applications received by the due date are not guaranteed and intake capacity may vary. EQUALS reserves the right to accept or decline applications at its total discretion. CRICOS no C Registration No Entry Requirements A current and valid National Police Check (dated within 12 months) is a mandatory requirement for this program. All applicants are advised that they will be required to produce an acceptable NPC on or prior to commencement of the program. Please note that online checks are also accepted. If you currently hold a Department of Communities & Social Inclusion (DCSI) Screening Check for working in the Aged Care Sector and with Vulnerable People please talk with our Admissions team about requirements for screening checks. Please note that the outcome of any screening check may affect industry placement opportunities, and that this is at the discretion of host facilities. You will also need to confirm that you are physically fit to carry out the duties of a Care Worker. International applicants are required to have achieved an IELTS score of 5.5 (overall band score) or equivalent.
