4 CHC43015 CERTIFICATE IV IN AGEING SUPPORT The CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support reflects the role of support workers who complete specialized tasks and functions in aged services. They work either in residential, hospital or community based environments and are required to take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organization guidelines. They will also be required to maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualized service planning and delivery. Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organization and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters. The course modules are structured to provide a balanced program of theory and practice relevant to the career opportunities across the healthcare industry. This course is offered to Domestic and International students. 48 weeks course comprising of theory, lab simulations and Professional Experience Placements. 5 WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS COURSE? What is the aim of this course? Students may undertake this course to develop skills and knowledge for a career in Aged Care, and prepare for a supervisory or team leader role in the aged care industry. How is the course delivered? Face to Face Mode The course is provided through teacher led classroom mode delivery, simulated training and professional experience placement of at least 120 hours with a variety of assessments. This course will be delivered over 1260 hours, including theory (20 hours per week at an IHNA campus), simulation training and at least 120 hours of work based training / professional experience placement (PEP). Blended Mode This course will be delivered over 1260 hours, including online theory, self-paced structured e-learning as per the session plan, simulation training and at least 120 hours of work based training / professional experience placement (PEP). Simulation Training The simulation training for both modes of delivery is for review of the learning activities, practicing communication and management skills and undertaking other assessments e.g.: group presentation/individual presentation, mandatory to be undertaken prior to attending Professional Experience Placement. Entry Requirements: There are no pre-requisites or any other training package entry requirements for this course. Admission Criteria: DOMESTIC IHNA has in place admission criteria for courses in its scope as required by its Application and Enrolment Procedure for VET Courses to ensure that candidates meet industry requirements. 6 Students will be assessed in both a formative and summative way Be of mature age which can be demonstrated by a candidate who is at least of 21 years and has a qualification at Certificate II level or higher, OR has 2 years industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication In addition, all the applicants are required to have successfully completed an ACSF test and demonstrate competence as working at Level 3 for all indicators to enrol for this qualification (issued within the last 12 months from the time of admission). Additional Requirement for Professional Experience Placement (PEP): A satisfactory National Police Clearance / Australian Federal Police Clearance Certificate(AFP) / NCC will be required for placements. IHNA highly recommends students to complete the immunisation process before the Professional Experience Placement start date as some facilities will not provide placement to student without immunisation. It is also essential for the student to possess basic computer skills. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are encouraged to apply. CRICOS International students should have: A satisfactory English Proficiency: A minimum IELTS overall score of 5.5 (Academic) with no band less than 5. IHNA accepts equivalent scores in OET, TOEFL ibt and PTE. Satisfactorily completed a minimum of year 12 or equivalent Must be of a minimum age of 18+ at the time of course commencement In addition, all the applicants are required to have successfully completed an ACSF test conducted by IHNA and demonstrate competence as working at Level 3 for all indicators to enrol for this qualification (issued within the last 12 months from the time of admission). Students must be able to perform and complete course objectives and requirements with or without reasonable accommodations otherwise you will not be enrolled. 7 Students may enrol at any time of the year. The commencement of all courses is subject to enrolment quotas. Strength: Sufficient to assist with lifting and transferring a client, and perform CPR Mobility: Sufficient mobility to bend, stoop, and bend down to the floor; ability to move around rapidly; and to move in small, confined areas. Hearing: Sufficient to hear through the stethoscope to discriminate sounds; to hear cries for help; to hear alarms on equipment and emergency signals; and various overhead pages. Vision: Sufficient to make physical assessments of client and equipment. Communication: Able to communicate in both verbal and written formats; and interact with clients, staff, and faculty supervisors. Total tuition Fees Domestic Students: Perth: AUD $3,800 Melbourne & Sydney: AUD $2,800 International Students: AUD $10,500 Students may be eligible for government funding. Enrolling in this qualification and availing the relevant state funding, may affect student s future training options and the eligibility for further government subsidised training. Payment plans available. Detailed fees available on IHNA Fees and Charges 2017 Domestic: International: Tuition Fees does not include any additional resources such as books, uniforms, equipment, printing, duplicate student id card etc. How is the course assessed? Assessment strategies are implemented for collecting evidence and making judgements about whether competency has been achieved by the learner. The assessments confirm whether an individual can perform to the standards expected in the workplace, as expressed in the relevant endorsed unit of competency. Students will be assessed in both a formative and summative way. These assessment methods and strategies are consistent with the Training Package Assessment Guidelines. 8 What will I get on successful completion of this course? Students who successfully complete all of the required units of competency of this course will be issued a testamur with the record of results printed at the back. A statement of attainment will be issued if a student successfully completes one or more units of competency of this course, but does not meet the requirements for a qualification (as specified in the Training Package). The statement of attainment will list all of the units of competency achieved. What further studies could I pursue? From the Certificate IV in Ageing Support, opportunities may be available to progress into the Diploma of Enrolled Nursing, registered nursing qualifications, or other diplomas in community services and health.
