2 Page 2 Lehigh Valley IIA Newsletter President s Messag ge Dear members: The Board of Governors and Chapter Officers held a planning meeting on January 12 th to finalize the spring program of events. Below is a summary of the events refer to event details or the chapter website for additional details and registration information. Our chapter is in need of volunteers for the upcoming year. reach out to me if you are interested in volunteering! Wednesday, February 25 th from 8am 11am 2 CPE breakfast meeting on Cloud Computing and other IT Hot Topicss at Air Products. There will be a one hour breakfast / social hour followed byy a presentation from Phil Schmoyer of Baker Tilly. Friday, February 27 th CAE Sessionn Invitational only. Tuesday, March 17 th from 6:00 8: :30pm Joint IIA/ACFE Student Night event at DeSales University. Networking event and 1 CPE presentation on Emotional Intelligence. Week of April ACL Training at Air Products. 3 day Beginner course and 2 day Intermediate course. Space is limited to first 15 registrants. Wednesday, April 15 th ACL Users Group meeting at Air Products. 2 CPEs and free! Thursday, April 30 th 8 CPE joint sponsored IIA/ACFE seminar at Olympus. Tim Gearty will present on Forensic Accounting. Friday, May 22 nd Year end social Iron Pigs game at Coca Colelected at this time, which is a great Park. The Officers and Board of Governors will be time to get more involved in the chapter and gain some new skills. Our chapter is in need of volunteers for the upcoming year. I know some of you would like to be more involved but aren t sure what roles are available and what the commitment is. So to help with this, we will be sending out position descriptions shortly that will give you details of the responsibilities and time commitment for the various roles. 3 Lehigh Valley IIA Newsletter Page 3 Events February 25 Breakfast Meeting Cloud Computing and Other IT Hot Topics Speaker Phil Schmoyer Event Summary This presentation will explore emerging information technology hot topics with a core emphasis on the emergence of cloud computing. The focus will be explaining the concepts and features of the cloud and the risks associated with its use to assist with audit plan development and enterprise risk management. Speaker BIO Phil is a Senior Manager in the Philadelphia office of Baker Tilly. For over 6 years, Phil has been a member of the Risk and Internal Audit Consulting practice providing risk management, information technology and internal audit consulting services to clients in the higher education, insurance, financial services, manufacturing, distribution, technology, and healthcare sectors where he has worked with companies of all sizes; from initial start-up to in excess of $225 billion in assets. He has performed numerous projects with a specific focus on enterprise risk management, data reporting, process and operational efficiency, and regularly consults with clients to discuss compliance and control matters. The presentation will give an introductionn to emotional intelligencee and how it can help you better understand and work with others. Speaker Bio Bill Lees is an Association Manager of Corporate Finance at Olympus where he maintains internal control documentation and performs consolidation and reporting functions. He is also the current President of the Lehigh Valley Institute of Internal Auditors. At the end of Preston Lane, turn right on to Landis Mill Road and then left on Station Avenue. The parking lot to the University Center is on the left. If the University Center lot is full, there is additional parking at Billera Hall. As you approach Landis Mill Road, Billera Hall is the building on your right at the end of Preston Lane. In an interactive hands-on environment, you will learn fundamentals such as basic data concepts and how to work within the ACL Analytics environment, as well as integral skills such as how to conduct analysis steps and procedures and accomplish analysis objectives in ACL Analytics. You will learn the proper methodology and best practices for all five phases of the data analysis cycle (planning, importing, preparing, analyzing, and reporting). On the third day, basic scripting will be introduced. Through this comprehensive introduction and practical application, you will learn how to effectively use ACL Analytics to accomplish your audit and/or business objectives. NOTE: Attendees will need to bring their own laptop to the training, and install the required program and updates PRIOR to the training. Internet access will not be available in the training. Event Agenda / Schedule: Event Summary Come join other ACL users of various levels dedicated to improving work projects through the use of ACL. Speakers will discuss ways to implement ACL into projects, develop new applications for use, and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of ACL use. Our chapter is having another good year and we would like to continue passing this good fortune on to all of our members and guest. There is a flat rate fee of $10 for members and guests, so take advantage of this great opportunity to come out to the ball park see a game and network and reconnect with others. We will also hold elections for our Officers, Board of Governors, and Committee Chairs. Please note our social will be in the PenTeleData Party Porch along the 3rd base line.
