Steve distributed 140 shirts on his visit, and took additional orders while he was there. The free logoed shirt is a time honored perk for Skagit Regional Health employees something that was exciting to extend to the newest members of the SRH family. June 27, 2016 Five physicians complete Skagit Regional Health residency program Five physicians have completed a three-year residency program in Internal Medicine and Family Medicine at Skagit Regional Health. The five graduating residents were celebrated on Saturday with a commencement ceremony featuring keynote remarks by former U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates. Former U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates served as keynote speaker. 2 Welcome - Bob Laws New Executive Director Hospice of the Northwest The Operations Board of Hospice of the Northwest is pleased to announce that Robert (Bob) Laws has been chosen as the new Executive Director. Bob has worked at Hospice of the Northwest since February 2008 he has five years of experience providing nursing care to patients and families. He was promoted to the Manager/Referral Center where he worked for almost two years. His most recent position, since November 2014, has been Clinical Manager/Nursing and Aides. Bob brings a wealth of expert and practical hospice knowledge with him to this new position. The Operations Board is pleased with the great leadership Jean Leib has provided Hospice and is confident this will continue under Bob s direction. For over 25 years, Hospice of the Northwest provides expert end-of-life care to patients and families in our service area; which comprises the counties of Skagit, Island, Snohomish and San Juan. Hospice is a multidisciplinary health care service that addresses the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the dying. Hospice serves over 800 patients and families every year, wherever the patient calls home. Valerie worked on a wide variety of strategic planning and research projects and was instrumental in working on the integration of Skagit Regional Health with Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics. 4 Departments to move into Business Center starting June 30 Moving day is nearly here for 10 Skagit Regional Health departments that will relocate to the Business Center at 1515 N. 18 th Street in Mount Vernon. The first departments to move will be Human Resources and Risk Management on the afternoon of June 30. Visitors will enter the building through the main front door, which will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Employees will enter the building through the north entrances on the east and west end of the building via badge access. Only employees who work in the building will have badge access. The new building will have on-site Security staff from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and will be included in Security staff rounds on weekends. The building is also equipped with a variety of security cameras inside and outside. Business Center receptionist: Security desk: Employee phone numbers will remain the same. Security staff will be handling creation of employee badges (for those who need new or replacement badges). Interoffice mail delivery will continue on a twicedaily basis. Shuttle service will be available on a route between the Business Center and Skagit Valley Hospital. The Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics Business Office is NOT moving right now, however space is reserved in the Business Center for a future move. Grab & Go food service will be available including sandwiches, salads, beverages and snacks. Four conference rooms are located in the building, with full audio-visual capabilities. Those wishing to reserve a room will be able to schedule directly in Outlook. Water-bottle fill stations will be available in the building. Welcome New Medical Residents! Great news: United Healthcare now accepted at CVHC Another positive outcome from the integration Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics is now part of the contracted network of providers for United Healthcare s Medicare AARP Complete plan. Nurse Scott Hughes reviews a chart at Cascade Valley Hospital. Patients now have access to new primary care and specialty care providers in Arlington, Granite Falls and Darrington and can come to CVH for their care. Performance Manager to shift to Epicor Updates regarding licenses, certification, ACLS and other requirements for staff will transition from Performance Manager (currently in use at Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics) to Epicor in a rolling system through December Evaluations will also transition into Epicor, providing a single location for this The Patient Services Team at the Skagit Valley Hospital Regional Cancer Care Center in Mount Vernon. A second cancer center is located at Smokey Point. Shout out to the Payroll team! A special, sincere thank you to the Payroll team for making sure that the more than 400 Cascade Valley Hospital and Clinics employees who joined Skagit Regional Health were paid in the first two pay cycles of the integration. Payroll staff especially Mark Young were on site at Cascade Valley along with several experienced Kronos helpers Kristi Terwilliger, Oncology; Angel Abbott, Patient Access; Nicky Flint, Practice Manager; Olivia DeLeon, Practice Manager and Jammie Novak, Medical and Pediatric Care Manager, who assisted managers with navigating the system to approve time cards and training. 6 Connections is your resource for updates and information about this transformational implementation project Direction Sessions are Complete! Last week, phase one of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementation wrapped up. Direction sessions took place in nearly every conference room all over Skagit Valley Hospital. Even the Board of Commissioners were forced to find temporary meeting space last week! A big shout out goes to the many providers and staff from Cascade Valley who made the trip north to participate in these sessions! Your voice and perspective were valuable contributions to these critical decisions. Clinical Content Design will begin in early July. This is where specialty groups assemble to develop content and workflows. Standardization of workflow makes it easier to follow best practices and do the right thing for our patients, notes Jeffrey S. Gibbs, MD, Regional Vice President of Medical Affairs. These are really important steps that require thoughtful participation throughout the process. Next up: Workflow Adoption sessions Adoption sessions will take data from Direction sessions and configure it inside the Epic system for further review and validation. These are the first steps in customizing Epic s foundation system to fit the joint Skagit and Cascade organization. The first Adoption sessions are August Join the conversation! Talk with your managers and directors about the EHR implementation project, accept meeting invitations for Epic demonstrations, and watch for s with Epic or EHR in the subject line.
