3 UT Arlington Gives Back with Free OSHA Seminars Workers Memorial Day April 28, 2012 Worker s Memorial Day is held on April 28th every year. Workers and their representatives around the world conduct events, demonstrations, vigils and a whole host of other activities to mark the day. The University at Texas in Arlington (UTA) is planning a free OSHA seminar training event in every state throughout Region VI. 21 SafETYCOMPASS - DYNAMIC SafEGUARDING in the WORkplACE SH 940 $ Hours Incidents occur in dynamic, constantly changing and often unpredictable environments. Various mechanical and procedural safeguards are used to mitigate the risk of incidents occurring. Such safeguards are necessary and have proven effective; but they are limited by their static nature. These safeguards are usually fixed, non-responsive and slow to adapt, leaving them inherently inadequate to mitigate risks in dynamic work environments. People, on the other hand, are suited to serve as a dynamic safeguard against incidents. When front-line employees see something unsafe in the moment, they are uniquely positioned to stop it and prevent it from resulting in an incident. However, employees often fail to fulfill this role.
