3 Visit us on-line at VCU Children s Medical Center and Children s Hospital joined together in 2010 forming Children s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) of the VCU Health System, a full service children s hospital that offers a robust continuum of pediatric services, research and education. With the combined expertise of both organizations, CHoR provides the most comprehensive continuum of pediatric care in Central Virginia, allowing many children to receive all of their care from one unified pediatric health care system. CHoR offers 10 convenient locations and a comprehensive scope of services including emergency, primary, secondary, advanced tertiary, rehabilitative and long-term care. With nearly 1,350 full-time and 1,200 part-time employees who provide nationally recognized care to children, CHoR has the largest number of pediatric specialists, therapists and nurses in Central Virginia, as well as the widest range of pediatric services from well-child checkups to the only Level 1 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in the region. CHoR has 149 pediatric beds and a full complement of specialized medical/surgical services, along with a comprehensive range of therapy services and support services. PEDS AT THE BEACH COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is designed for physicians, physician assistants, and other health care professionals who deliver primary care to children and adolescents. Each half-day program will be devoted to one of the following subject areas: emergency medicine, primary care, and developmental pediatrics. Plenary sessions will include a question and answer session with each presentation, small group discussions will be offered, and a reception will provide additional opportunities for participants to discuss medical issues with faculty members and colleagues. The small group sessions will provide an opportunity for case analysis and in depth discussion of selected topics within the subject areas. Each participant may attend two of the small group discussion sessions each day (each small group session is one hour long). Workshop assignments will be made on a first come, first served basis. Please indicate your first and second choices for each discussion session in the space provided on the course registration form. Selections cannot be guaranteed due to seating restrictions however, we will do our best to honor your request. Educational objectives for each talk are given in the conference schedule. COURSE REGISTRATION The course registration fee is $ for physicians and $ for physicians in training (letter of residency verification must accompany registration fee) and all other health care professionals. The registration fee includes tuition, course materials, continental breakfast and coffee breaks each day and a complimentary Meet and Greet for participants, their families and guests. A separate fee of $ will be charged for those who sign up for the Magic Workshop which covers learning materials that you will take home with you. Virginia Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics members receive a special discounted rate. 5 ACCREDITATION and CREDIT University Health Services Professional Education Programs (UHS-PEP) of Virginia Commonwealth University Health System is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. UHS-PEP designates this live activity for a maximum of 13.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits (TM). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This continuing medical education activity has been reviewed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and is acceptable for for a maximum of AAP credits. These credits can be applied toward the AAP CME/CPD Award available to Fellows and Candidate Members of the American Academy of Pediatrics. This activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians. CME activities approved for AAFP credit are recognized by the AOA as equivalent to AOA Category 2 credit.
