The unforgettable smell of his mother s spaghetti sauce and taco meat is what comes to mind for Michael Bolner when he thinks about his parent s care and devotion to serving others. Michael s mother, Rosalie Bolner, was well-known in San Antonio for cooking for others as her way of serving and giving back. It is that sense of community that instilled in Michael and his six siblings the importance of caring for others. As a child, seeing my parents selflessly giving back to our community really set a foundation and expectation that it is just part of life to give back. That was our normal. I am fortunate in that way, said Michael Bolner. My parents raised a family of seven children, ran a successful business and always had time to serve, give back and help others. They are an outstanding example for our entire family and generations to come. In 2015, the Michael Bolner Family opened the Michael and Mary Pat Bolner Foundation, a fund of the San Antonio Area Foundation. Michael s father, Clifton Bolner, had worked with the San Antonio Area Foundation on a few occasions. When Michael and his family sought to streamline and coordinate their family giving, the San Antonio Area Foundation was a natural fit. Michael also serves on the Area Foundation s finance committee. We appreciate that the San Antonio Area Foundation is helping our family streamline our giving and ensure that our family s legacy of giving extends for generations to come.
