Today, because of our commitment to excellence, we are recognized as one of our nation s top business schools. However, we will not be content until we earn our place among the preeminent: the Top 25 public business schools. We are confident this is within our reach. To achieve that goal, we must continue to invest in areas critical to providing the high-caliber education our students expect and deserve. This means investing in people, programs, place and posture. We ask for your help in this regard. People Two issues retaining faculty and reducing student debt are of primary concern to us. 3 Universities across the nation compete for outstanding faculty members because talented teachers and researchers remain critical to student success and to a college s reputation. Endowed professorships and chairs enable us to recruit and retain rising stars and distinguished professors, whose important research not only improves quality of life, but also increases our prestige. At the same time, today s students graduate with unprecedented debt. By providing scholarships and fellowships to the most talented and deserving students, we enable them to achieve their educational goals without the burden of climbing debt. Endowed Professorships and Chairs ($10 million goal) Faculty Research Support ($5 million goal) Undergraduate Scholarships ($5 million goal) Graduate Fellowships ($5 million goal) Dr. Michael Brady, Carl DeSantis Professor and Department of Marketing Chair, has won the most prestigious award in his field and in the classroom. He has led the FSU Marketing Department to a Top 25 ranking for research. Raise the Torch

4 4 Dr. Ashley Bush, Sprint Professor of Management Information Systems (MIS), is the chair for the newly formed Department of Business Analytics, Information Systems and Supply Chain. Programs We continually evaluate our programs and develop new ones to address current and future industry needs and ensure our students are prepared for leadership roles. One example is the addition of a business analytics minor and we soon will offer an undergraduate core course in this area. Also in the works is a master s degree in business analytics, the first at a public university in Florida. Additionally, we have strengthened our commitment to our Master of Business Administration (MBA) and doctoral programs, including increasing financial support to Ph.D. students from four years to five years. And, finally, to enhance our students employment prospects, we are creating the college s first honors and leadership programs. 5 Place Legacy Hall Our mission is to educate a new generation of global business leaders who are insightful, innovative and collaborative. No single step can advance this effort more than a new state-of-the-art building that instills pride in students, faculty, staff, the university, alumni and the broader community. The importance of Legacy Hall cannot be overstated as we compete with other top-tier business schools for world-class faculty and the best students from around the globe. $42 million (matched by the state for a total of $84 million) 5 Posture We have earned a reputation for providing students with the individual attention that allows them to succeed and we have achieved international acclaim because of our faculty s teaching excellence and groundbreaking research. To further enhance our standing in the academic community and beyond, we are seeking to secure a name for the college. Being a named college will increase our prestige and place the college among the nation s elite business schools that bear the names of generous and visionary men and women. Additionally, we are seeking to name our programs to achieve the same prominence as a named school. 6 6 Barbara and Harold ( 55 RMI) Chastain Giving in gratitude Chastains increase their gift to $1.5 million to further enhance eminent scholar chair in real estate Harold Chastain credits the FSU College of Business for the solid foundation that prepared him for successful careers in banking and real estate. In gratitude, he and his wife, Barbara, have faithfully and generously supported the college throughout the years. In 1999, the Chastains committed $600,000 to establish the J. Harold and Barbara M. Chastain Eminent Scholar Chair in Real Estate, and a statematching gift brought that amount to $1 million. In 2016, the couple added $500,000, bringing their total donation to $1.5 million making it the largest endowed faculty research position in the college. Their earlier gift made it possible to bring one of the nation s leading scholars in real estate finance and economics to the college in 2009 and, in 2016, we were able to retain one of the nation s preeminent real estate scholars. Whatever success I have enjoyed, I owe in large part to Florida State University, said Harold, the former president and chief real estate appraiser at First Environmental Services. Making a splash and giving back Gifts from former FSU swim team captain and his wife, a former FSU Golden Girl, fund scholarships and fellowships for excellence Brett Lindquist said it took just one real estate course at FSU to find a passion that set him on the path to professional success. Thirty-three years later, Brett, co-founder and CEO of The Mortgage Firm, was happy to know he could give back to the college. He and his wife, Cindy, made a gift of $125,000 to establish the Lindquist Endowed Real Estate Scholarship Fund, the Lindquist Endowed Fund for Real Estate Excellence and the Lindquist Endowed Professional Sales Scholarship Fund. An additional gift of $500,000 is funding the Lindquist Endowed Real Estate Fellowship Fund. We had no idea that individuals and businesses provided scholarships, Brett said. Knowing that a private business could be involved in helping students really encouraged us to become involved. 7 Bob ( 73 MAR) and Pam Sasser A foundation to build upon The Sassers are helping to shape the future of FSU s College of Business Pam and I are especially happy we can be part of the college s efforts to ensure students receive a superb education in a building that will allow us to compete, said Dollar Tree CEO Bob Sasser. Just as important, a state-of-the-art building will add to the prestige of the college and allow us to compete with other top business schools in attracting and retaining worldclass faculty. Bob and his wife, Pam, donated $1 million to kickstart the college s $84 million campaign to build Legacy Hall the college s new home equipped with the technology and resources needed to provide tomorrow s business education. In addition to their Legacy Hall contribution, the Sassers have established several scholarships in the college, including the $100,000 Bob and Pam Sasser Fellowship in Marketing Excellence. 7 A commitment to excellence Extraordinary alumnus and dynamic organization demonstrate passion for education A generous gift from Dr. William T. Hold and The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research allowed the college to build on its foundation of excellence. In appreciation for their $5 million gift, the college s top-ranked risk management and insurance program was named the Dr. William T. Hold/The National Alliance Program in Risk Management & Insurance. Since being named, the program has climbed in the U.S. News & World Report rankings from No. 6 among public institutions to No. 5. The naming and combined resources of FSU and The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research not only will result in a broader and stronger academic and business framework, but also will boost recognition of the college as one of the best in the nation, said Dr. Hold, The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research s president.
