1 A country so rich in history that every street you walk and every person you meet will have a fascinating story to tell With a rich warring history that gives influences from Asia and Europe, this is a county full of surprises. From its pristine beaches to it s highland paddy fields, the unique fusion of Chinese and French cuisine, remnants of post-war and Communist government there seems to be no aspect of that doesn t prove fascinating to its visitors. Still very much dependent on its agriculture, has invested heavily in manufacturing, IT and high-tech industries to make it the world s second largest growing economy. Yet it still remains relatively poor country. Government redistribution of wealth means fewer people than might be expected living under the poverty line, but also means that funds are not available for investment in minority groups and initiatives that now need your help. Your life outside the project Most of our projects are situated in the districts surrounding s southern capital city, Ho Chi Minh, and in your spare time there is plenty to do in the city. The city is buzzing with the noise of motorbikes, much loved by the younger generations. You will see many hawkers in conical hats ply their wares, locals sip coffee and bia hoi (beer) watching life pass them by. If you have the time head north to Hanoi, a pleasant city with a European feel, and you will find many attractive lakes, parks and boulevards to explore. Smaller than Ho Chi Minh; 's largest city, it is still a bustling centre and is home to many interesting museums, temples and pagodas.
