2 This is our Last Warning!!!!!!! A Smart and Challenging Documentary about Education! On Monday -- October 3 at 7 p.m. -- the Camas County School will host a showing of Most Likely to Succeed, a celebrated documentary by Greg Whitely, which looks at what students and teachers are capable of when they re committed together to improve education. More than 2,300 communities in the U.S. have screened Most Likely to Succeed in the past year; the movie has been a selection at many prestigious film festivals: Sundance, Tribeca, and AFI DOCS! And featured at many prestigioussounding conferences: ASU/GSV, SxcSWedu, Harvard/GoldmanSachs, and NewSchools Venture Fund! Audience members have called it the most compelling film ever done on the subject of school! We re all invited, and the Camas County School wants to use the event to stimulate discussion among teachers, administrators, parents, community members and students about how current obstacles can be overcome and steps toward change can be taken on a local level! The movie will be shown in Manard Hall, a distinguished former movie theater now occupied by the Lighthouse Church, just north of the school bus barn! A real movie theater! The Kittredge discussion will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, October 17, and scholar Dave Nicholas will be there to provoke discussion! Titles to follow through the winter include Indian Creek Chronicles, The Solace of Open Spaces by Gretel Ehrlich, Reservation Blues by Sherman Alexie, and This House of Sky. by Ivan Doig. The Camas County P&Z will take public comment next Tuesday (7 p.m. in the Courthouse Annex) on the proposed draft zoning ordinance, which has been changed and reformatted to follow more modern and widely used code practices and to recognize recent court decisions affecting the listing and permitting of land uses.
