When possible, audio from the press conference will be posted on hurricanesports.com no later than 4:00 p.m. ET each Tuesday preceding a game. The press conference is not held in weeks when Miami will not be playing a game. News media may access audio of the weekly UM football press conference at hurricanesports.fansonly.com/multimedia/mifl-multimedia.html Daily Practice Reports A brief practice report will be posted to the website following University of Miami football practices at hurricanesports.fansonly.com/sports/m-footbl/mifl-m-footbl-body.html Game Day Coverage Every Saturday during the season, hurricanesports.com is the place to go for fans and news media for the latest on the Hurricanes. In addition to live audio broadcasts of each game, live statistics are provided via hurricane-sports.com. Also, extensive post-game coverage will appear, including a game recap, photos, post-game notes and quotes, and audio. Bios, Stats, Etc. Almost any information a media member could want regarding University of Miami football is available via the hurricanesports.com website. Media members can access biographical data on the entire coaching staff and current roster, along with updated statistics for the team and individual players, game recaps, and several special historical features. Hurricanesports.com is the official website for up-to-the-minute news and information, including audio/video clips, photo galleries, live statistics and wireless updates on University of Miami football. Hurricanesports.com is a member of CSTV Online (CSTVO). CSTV Online is the largest aggregation of online content, commerce and consumers focused on college athletics. Through its Official Athletic Sites, CSTVO provides online brand management, content delivery, consumer marketing, and business/commerce solutions to more than 180 university athletic departments, conferences and associations throughout the country. Now in its ninth year of providing services to the top brands in college sports, the CSTVO business has continued to show dramatic growth in both the quality and quantity of properties. Comprehensive Football Information All news releases are posted to the hurricanesports.com website. Media can access the latest news of University of Miami football by checking in regularly to hurricanesports.com s front page or the main football page. Football Weekly Release A complete informational packet is produced each Monday preceding an upcoming game during the regular season. The Miami Hurricanes football weekly game release will be posted to the website no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time each Monday of a game week. Media may access the game release via a posting on the website or can download a pdf file of the release via Adobe Acrobat software. The weekly game release is not produced in weeks when Miami will not be playing a game. News media may access the weekly game notes at hurricanesports.fansonly.com/sports/m-footbl/mifl-m-footbl-body.html Miami Awards Candidates On The Web In addition to five national championships in football, the University of Miami has a rich tradition of its players capturing some of college football s most prestigious individual honors. Most recently, Kellen Winslow won the 2003 Mackey Award as nation s best tight end, Brett Romberg was named the winner of the 2002 Rimington Award given annually to college football s best center, UM s Ken Dorsey won the 2001 Maxwell Award as the nation s best player and Bryant McKinnie won the 2001 Outland Trophy as college football s best lineman. In 2002, two Hurricanes (Dorsey and Willis McGahee) were among five finalists for the Heisman Trophy. A special feature at hurricanesports.com is entitled Miami Awards and highlights current Hurricane football players who are considered candidates for these national honors. The 2005 version of the website is expected to debut in September. To access Miami Awards, click the buttons on the main hurricanesports.com page or the main football page. 4 Radio & TV Coverage Hurricane Sports Network The University of Miami will team with Learfield Communications and ISP Sports this fall to form the Hurricane Sports Network. A collection of 15 radio stations across the state of Florida will carry all of the Hurricanes football action during the 2005 season. The Hurricane Sports Network has compiled an impressive list of state affiliates, allowing Miami football games to be heard throughout the state of Florida. WQAM (560 AM) will anchor the Hurricane Sports Network. Miami football games can also be heard over the internet on The Broadcast Team Joe Zagacki enters his fourth year as the Voice of the Hurricanes. Zagacki brings a wealth of experience to the Hurricanes broadcasts after being a part of the South Florida market for 23 years and at WQAM for the past 12 years. This season will mark his 17th season on the University of Miami broadcast team. Zagacki also handles play-by-play duties for Miami basketball and baseball. U.M. Radio Network The Hurricane Sports Network has compiled an impressive list of state affiliates, allowing Miami football games to be heard throughout the state of Florida. WQAM (560 AM) will anchor the Hurricane Sports Network affiliates. He played for UM from and was a captain on the 1982 squad. Bailey was an 11th-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos in 1983 and spent three years as a center in the National Football League. ESPN Radio (1460) ALL-AMERICANS Roly Martin Joe Martinez Spanish Radio Once again in 2005 every Hurricane football game will be broadcast in Spanish. Listeners can catch every play on Radio Caracol, WSUA (1260). Roly Martin will handle the play-by-play duties and Joe Martinez will provide color analysis. Student Radio WVUM (90.5 FM), the University of Miami s student radio station which can be heard throughout Miami-Dade County, will carry every football game. Hurricane Hotline Hurricanes fans can catch up with all the latest information on University of Miami athletics while talking with coaches and student-athletes on Hurricane Hotline, a weekly two-hour call-in radio show. Hurricane Hotline, featuring head coach Larry Coker and other guests, will air every Thursday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on 560 WQAM. 06

5 Media Policies Interviews All interviews should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance through the Sports Media Relations Office (305/ ). The best time to interview Coach Larry Coker is after practice or during the weekly press conference held each Tuesday prior to games. Coach Coker will be available on Sundays following games at 10:00 a.m. in the Edgerrin James Team Meeting Room to review the previous day s game. The best time to interview players is on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Players are also available either before or after practice on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and during Tuesday s press conference. Due to scheduling, post-practice interviews will be limited in number and time. Please call at least one day in advance for all phone interviews. The Sports Media Relations Office will not distribute home phone numbers for players or coaches. All phone interviews should be conducted during those times reserved for general media interview sessions. The Miami Sports Media Relations Office may conduct a tele-conference with selected players on occasional Wednesdays during certain game weeks. There are no player interviews on Friday or Saturday. The UM dormitories, lockerroom, weightroom and training room are off limits to the media at all times. Press Conferences Larry Coker s weekly press conference is held each Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. ET in the Edgerrin James Room at the Hecht Center. Out-of-town media can access audio of the press conference via by 4:00 p.m. ET Tuesday afternoon. Practice Working media may attend the first 30 and last 15 minutes of practice Tuesday through Thursday. All other practices are closed to the media. Media who plan to attend should first check in at the UM Sports Media Relations Office. Writers and photographers are limited to specific areas of the practice fields. Credentials Credentials for home games are for working media only. Accredited media should make their requests in writing on letterhead at least two weeks in advance to Mark Pray at the UM Sports Media Relations Office. Requests from media covering UM opponents are confirmed with the visiting SID. Parking The city of Miami charges for parking at the Orange Bowl. Paid parking is limited but normally available to media who cover UM regularly and request passes well in advance. Media requesting season parking should contact the UM Sports Media Relations Office. Individual game parking is limited but can also be requested through the UM Sports Media Relations Office. Telephones A limited number of courtesy phones are available at the Orange Bowl. However, to insure your filing needs at evening games, it is recommended that media on deadline order phone lines by calling Bell South at The Orange Bowl s address is: 1501 N.W. 3rd Street, Miami, FL Media who order lines are reminded to bring a phone as Bell South only installs the lines. Orders must be placed at least 10 days prior to a game. Orange Bowl Pressbox The phone number is: (305) Statistics/Services Complete game statistics, play-by-play and post-game quotes will be available at all UM home games. Running play-by-play sheets and stats will be distributed throughout the game. Media Releases Available Via Media members interested in receiving the Miami football releases via should send a request to Sports Information/Football Contact Rick Korch at rkorch@miami.edu Photographers NCAA rules limit shooting to outside the restraining line enclosing the playing field and outside the 25-yard line. In order to provide adequate working space for those shooting, there are two photo restraining lines surrounding the Orange Bowl playing field. The front line is for photographers and television camera operators actually shooting the contest. Broadcasts Those entities requiring live or taped radio or television broadcasts must notify and receive approval at least one week in advance from Mark Pray at 305/ Video/Highlights Requests for videotaped highlights for publicity purposes can be made through Max Wyler at Accord Productions (305/ ). Accord Productions is available to provide interview footage and any special requests for out-of-town media. A search and edit fee may be charged for this service. Press Policies Only working press will be admitted to the Orange Bowl pressbox. The 100 seats will be issued according to the following criteria: 1. State newspapers by circulation, wire services, national publications, news papers from opponent s area, and student newspapers from UM and opponent s schools. 2. Other daily newspapers, with preference to those that regularly cover UM. 3. Radio and television personnel not broadcasting, but considered reporting. 4. Non-daily newspapers, with preference to those which regularly cover UM. 5. Scouts Freelance and/or non-daily writers may be asked to produce copies of actual publications in which their work has appeared. In some cases, these materials will be required as verification of the writers status. ACC Teleconference Each Wednesday during the 2005 football season, Larry Coker will be available to the media on the ACC Football teleconference call. Coker will be on the call for 10 minutes beginning at 11:30 a.m. every Wednesday from August 31 through November 22. Road Game Credentials Writers covering UM on a regular basis may make requests for road credentials with the UM Sports Media Relations Office. Credential requests are faxed to the opponent school by Monday two weeks prior to the contest. Web Site The latest information on the Hurricanes can be found on the UM Athletic Department web site: Post-Game Interviews The athletic staff at the University of Miami is aware of the importance of media coverage and places great importance on the role of the media insofar as it interacts with their respective duties. To ensure the most workable situation for members of both entities, the following procedures must be observed. 1. The University of Miami football program will observe the customary coolingoff period as granted by the NCAA. Following the game s conclusion and after the team has left the field, media members may assemble outside the lockerroom area. Upon conclusion of the cooling off period, a UM Sports Media Relations representative will guide media into the lockerroom. 2. Miami head coach Larry Coker will be brought directly to the interview room upstairs from the UM lockerroom shortly after he talks to the team. The lockerroom will be open to media as soon as possible after Coach Coker departs for the interview room. 3. Post-game quotes will be provided for Hurricanes home games. 4. Post-game interviews are not allowed on the field. Each visiting team will set its own post-game interview policy, which will be announced on the pressbox public address system during the fourth quarter. Check with the opposing team s sports information staff if you have further questions. The Miami Athletic Department is not responsible for problems incurred by any member of the media not following the above procedures. Security personnel will facilitate only those following the proper guidelines. If you encounter a problem while following this procedure, please inform a member of the UM Sports Media Relations staff immediately. NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

6 Media Relations Mark Pray Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Mark Pray is in his fifth year as Assistant Athletic Director for Communications at the University of Miami. Pray oversees the athletic department s sports media relations efforts, as well as serving as the primary liaison with the department s broadcast partners. Pray came to Miami in 2001, after serving four years as Director of Media Relations for the WNBA (Women s National Basketball Association) and most recently as Director of Communications Projects for the NBA. In 1988, Pray was named as the first Director of Media Relations for the Miami Heat, a position he held until being promoted to Vice President for Communications in In his capacity as V.P. for Communications, Pray oversaw the Heat s media & community relations and broadcast departments. Pray received an undergraduate degree in journalism from Kansas State and a master s degree in sports administration from Ohio University. He coordinates all media relations efforts for the Hurricanes football program. Korch came to Miami in July 2004 after serving nine years as the manager of publicity and publications for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Korch has also served as editor in chief of Pro Football Weekly, public relations director of the NFL Alumni Association and a public relations assistant for the Miami Dolphins. He is the author of five books, including The Football Encyclopedia, The Truly Great and The Official Pro Football Hall of Fame Playbook. A native of Flossmoor, Ill., he has a bachelor s degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University and a master degree in sports administration from Ohio University.
