6 LAST TIME: BATTLING THE BUCKEYES Indiana raised the anchor on their Big Ten dual season last weekend in a neutral meet versus No. 2 Ohio State in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The Buckeyes won the meet, 26-9, with the Hoosiers securing a trio of bout wins. Elijah Oliver (125) gave IU the early lead with his win by decision, while Devin Skatzka (174) added to his unblemished dual meet record. Junior Fletcher Miller (285) ended the day with his second career Big Ten dual win. THROWBACK: INDIANA & PENN STATE The Hoosiers and Nittany Lions will clash for the 16th time since 1970 and their 15th meet as Big Ten combatants. Coaches Duane Goldman and Cael Sanderson are opposite one another for the sixth time in their careers, their fifth as respective coaches of Indiana and Penn State. Their encounter in Bloomington two seasons ago was a decisive win for Penn State, 34-8, but provided thrilling moments for the home crowd. Nate Jackson (174) stunned the nation with his upset over top-ranked freshman Bo Nickal, and senior Garret Goldman secured his first collegiate pin. IU WRESTLING IN THE RANKINGS The Hoosiers saw two wrestlers ranked in the Week 7 polls. Skatzka will take the mat with No. 2 Mark Hall, the reigning 174 lbs. champion, this weekend in Rec Hall. BACK ON THE SAME MAT Sunday s meet will feature a pair of rematches, according to the projected starting lineups. Sophomore Garrett Pepple (133) could face Corey Keener for the second time in his career, as the two met at the 2015 Reno Tournament of Champions. Keener won that bout by decision in Pepple s redshirt season. Jake Danishek (157) will take the mat once again versus top-ranked Jason Nolf, Danishek s first career match against a No. 1 wrestler. Danishek and Nolf wrestled the last time these teams met in Bloomington two seasons agol Nolf took the match by major decision. An additional three IU wrestlers are back in the dual meet lineup against Penn State for the second time in their careers. Elijah Oliver (125), Cole Weaver (141), and Bryce Martin (165) all faced Nittany Lions in the season as freshmen. UP NEXT: WRESTLING IN THE WINDY CITY The Hoosiers enjoy a brief semester break before returning to action in one of the nation s premier end-of-year collegiate tournaments: the 55th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, hosted annually by Northwestern University. This years clash with some of the country s best squads will feature a new location, the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, as Ryan Arena is under renovation. BACK POINTS...
