LOYOLA INTERCOLLEGIATE SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28 MONDAY, FEBRUARY 29 TUESDAY, MARCH 1 GOODYEAR, ARIZONA PALM VALLEY GOLF CLUB PALMS COURSE The Air Force golf team opens the 2016 spring campaign on Sunday, Feb. 28, when it travels to Goodyear, Ariz., for the Loyola Intercollegiate. The three-day meet, which runs through Tuesday, March 1, will be held at the Palm Valley Golf Club. ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT The Loyola Intercollegiate, previously known as the Snowman Getaway, will be held at the 7,015-year Palms Course (par 72) at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona. The 54-hole tournament will feature 18 holes each day, with split tee times during the first two rounds and a shotgun start for the third round. FOLLOW ALONG FROM HOME Live scoring for the Loyola Intercollegiate will be available at GolfStatResults.com. WHO S WHO Junior Sunwoo Choi, classmate Brenden Bone, freshman Tate Tatom, senior Michael Fan and freshman Turner Howe will serve as the Falcons five-man team during the spring opener, while junior Troy Berglund, sophomore Todd Millard and freshman Bryant Falconello will compete as individuals. A LOOK AT THE FIELD Air Force, Arkansas State, DePaul, Drake, Elon, Indiana, James Madison, Manhattan, Missouri State, Murray State, Seton Hall, St. Johns, Tennessee Martin, UConn, Utah Valley and William and Mary are the teams currenlty slated to compete at the Loyola Intercollegiate. A LOOK BACK AT THE 2015 LOYOLA INTERCOLLEGIATE Highlighted by a top-10 individual finish from Sunwoo Choi, the Falcons finished 10th out of 17 teams at the Loyola Intercollegiate last year ( =902). Choi, the Falcons first top-10 finisher of the season, tied for seventh with a tournament total of 215 ( ). LEADING THE WAY George Koury is in his 14th season as the head coach of the Air Force golf team. Before taking over the program in 2002, Koury spent three seasons as an assistant coach, working with both the varsity and junior varsity teams. A 1993 Academy graduate, Koury competed on the Falcons golf team from , serving as team captain and earning MVP honors as a senior. ABOUT THE FALCONS At first glance, Air Force may appear to be a rather young team, with just one senior and three juniors on its 12-man roster. However, having lost just one golfer to graduation last spring, the Falcons boast a strong, veteran lineup. Seven on the nine returners played at least 15 rounds last year, with six playing in at least 20. HOME SWEET HOME Ten states are represented on the Falcons 12-man roster, including Arizona (Brenden Bone), California (Sunwoo Choi, Bryant Falconello), Colorado (Todd Millard), Hawaii (Michael Fan), Louisiana (Sutton Farmer), Montana (Tate Tatom), North Carolina (Kyle Fuller), Oklahoma (Turner Howe), Pennsylvania (Troy Berglund) and Texas (Dane Hankamer, J.D. Kiesewetter) A FAMILY AFFAIR Two Falcons have siblings that are on current collegiate golf squads. Brenden Bone s twin brother, Alec, is on the Colorado State men s team and Michael Fan s younger sister, Brittany, competes for the Colorado women. In addition, Troy Berglund s brother, Todd, was a member of the Academy s golf team before for four years. COMING UP Air Force returns to action on Monday, March 7, when it travels to Primm, Nev., for the Jackrabbit Invitational.
