Through Division I athletic participation, our young men and women student-athletes learn a self-discipline that has both present and long-term effects; the interplay of individual and team effort; pride and self esteem in both victory and defeat; a skillful management of time; personal endurance and courage; and the complex relationships between friendship, leadership, and service. Our athletics program, in the words of the College Mission Statement, calls for a community marked by freedom, mutual respect, and civility. Besides teaching these virtues, a few sports played at Holy Cross have the added value of focusing alumni and student support and enhancing our reputation locally and nationally. While Holy Cross continues to commit itself to accomplishment in these sports, which are a rich part of our tradition, we choose to do so in a way that complements the pursuit of academic excellence. Holy Cross is committed to the guiding principles of the Patriot League, of which we are a founding member: presidential control of athletics; the cultivation of the ideal scholar-athlete; and participation in a wide variety of sports. Commitment to the last principle assures that the College sponsors, in a very evident way, gender equity. The department of athletics is also committed to compliance with all College policies and regulations involved in Division I membership in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Eastern College Athletic Conference. As a member of the NCAA, Holy Cross also advocates student-athlete welfare, diversity, gender equity, sportsmanship, and ethical conduct in its athletic programs. 7 OUTLOOK The Holy Cross men s lacrosse team returns 26 letterwinners, with eight of 10 starters and nine of its top 10 point producers. Holy Cross (3-12 overall, 0-6 Patriot League in 2009) also returns the majority of its defense and welcomes nine talented freshmen. With a group of upperclassmen that have a wealth of game experience, a talented group of underclassmen and the opening of a brand new field, there is a lot to be excited about for the 2010 Holy Cross men s lacrosse season. The Crusaders return eight starters from last season but also welcome the return of senior captain Edison Parzanese (Edgartown, Mass.) who missed all but three games last season due to injury. Parzanese, who has been one of the strongest and most dynamic offensive players at Holy Cross in recent years, will look to have a big senior season. Adding to the anticipation of the start of the 2010 season is the opening of Holy Cross Field. The new field is a synthetic turf facility which is the home of both Crusader lacrosse teams. The allweather, state-of-the-art field complete with lights, a lacrosse specific scoreboard, a press box and bleachers is a field that everyone in the program is very excited about. Everyone is really looking forward to playing regular season games on the new field, said sixth-year head coach Adam Pascal. We had a great fall season on the field. The new surface, the lights and the sound system Senior Chris Smirti Senior Mike Nagle are all great. It is one of the best venues in the league and it has a great area for the fans. It was awesome to see the commitment from the college and the alums to give us this facility which really adds to what we have to offer to future student athletes. Pascal loves the atmosphere that new field has created around his program. With some teams playing in football stadiums, we have a more small college type home field where fans can see the game up close and give us a nice home advantage, said Pascal. I think the view of Worcester is the best from the field. Also the surface is a lot better to play on then the traditional astro turf. The field is good for recruiting in that it is very attractive to prospective student-athletes. The senior class of Tim Barrar (West Chester, Pa.), Kevin Connolly (Concord, Mass.), Kenny Minor (South Hadley, Mass.), Mike Nagle (Timonium, Md.), Parzanese, John Rapport (Wyckoff, N.J.), Chris Smirti (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) and Connor Sweeney (South Salem, N.Y.) will be a key factor in the success of the team. Our eight seniors are very important to our team, said Pascal. Five years ago they all came from successful high school programs. I told them they would get a chance to get this program going in the right direction and they have done exactly that. Having these guys around also really helps the younger guys step up.

OUTLOOK Senior John Rapport The Holy Cross offense is expected to be strong this season with its top five goal scorers coming back from last season. We return a lot of fire power but we also have a lot of competition for offensive positions, said Pascal. For the first time here we are having strong competitions in practice. A big strength of the team will be its defense as Holy Cross returns the majority of its defensive unit. Last year at Bryant for the last game of the season for both teams, Zack Greer was four points away from the setting the all-time NCAA scoring record and the defense led by Barrar held him to one goal and two assists for three points, so he didn t set the record on us, said Pascal I know the defense was happy about that. We are going to have to lean on those guys on the defense this year as we expect a lot from them. Pascal is very happy with the attitude of the team which led to a productive fall season. The team has taken on the personality of our seniors which has brought a great work ethic to the players, said Pascal. What I took from the fall season is that we have a lot of talent and there will be a lot of competition for playing time. We won our scrimmages and the players got confidence and everyone was in great shape. As always Pascal uses practice to determine who will see playing time in games. He sees the depth of the team and the competitions in practice as two other strengths. When you can only play a certain amount of people on the field at the same time during a game you make the decision to who is going to play based on performances in practice, said Pascal When you bring in great freshmen that immediately generates competition. We have a lot of athletic players we just need to put them in roles that they can succeed in. The Crusaders will look to captains Barrar, Minor and Parzanese for strong leadership. All three players are different, said Pascal. Parzanese is a very focused leader, Barrar leads by example and Minor has a good combination of leadership. It is great that they are three different types of leaders. They were voted captains by their teammates so we expect to take their confidence and spread it out through the team. The nine juniors of Douglas Broussard (Floral Park, N.Y.), Brandon DeLisio (Woodstock, N.Y.), Colin Flood (Bay Shore, N.Y.), Conor McKenna (Summit, N.J.), Matt Moran (West Henrietta, N.Y.), Matt Petri (Morristown, N.J.), Anthony Quinn (Port Washington, N.Y.), Justin Rowley (Liverpool, N.Y.) and Eamon Troy (Summit, N.J.) will be looking to become leaders. Our junior class is very good, said Pascal. They give us a lot of depth and there are a lot of players who have seen a ton of game action. We expect this class to have a big season. Sophomores Matt Boylan (Kings Park, N.Y.), Ricky De- Cicco (Manhasset, N.Y.), Nick Doyle (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.), Brent Ferraro (Islip, N.Y.), A.J. Guarente (Gaithersburg, Md.), David Henry (Davidsonville, Md.), Tom Hines (Manchester, Mass.), Colin McGeehin (Newtown Square, Pa.), Andrew Morici (Manhasset, N.Y.), Greg Peterson (West Hartford, Conn.) and Nick Rabiecki (Maplewood, N.J.) will look to continue to contribute to the team. Last season, the sophomores got good experience in seeing what needed to be done in practice to get on the field in games, said Pascal. This class is very tight knit and I would expect them to compete and contribute in games. Pascal is very excited about the freshman class of Jack Curran (Verona, N.J.), Ian Garrahy (East Greenwich, R.I.), Myles Gillespie (Rye, N.Y.), John Hannan (Manhasset, N.Y.), James Kennedy (Summit, N.J.), Tim Pond (Port Washington, N.Y.), Daniel Schmader (Radnor, Pa.), Kip Stillman (Guilderland, N.Y.) and Matt Ward (Massapequa, N.Y.). These nine freshmen know that if they have good practices they will see the field during games and I expect to get contributions from them this season, said Pascal. With the addition of some new playing formations, Pascal has been stressing in practice the need for the team to be more vocal. We need to have better communication on the field, said Pascal. Especially when we are putting in new defensive and offensive formations the players need to know where their teammates are. At the start of the season we really need more talking on the field.

OUTLOOK ATTACK The Crusaders return a strong group at attack led by Parzanese. He has the most points with 94 and assists with 55 of any current Crusader. As a freshman and sophomore he led the team in both points and assists, and despite only playing three games as a junior he ranked fifth on the team with 13 points and eight goals, while he was fourth in assists with five. Edison has an awesome work ethic and we expect him to have a big senior season, said Pascal. McGeehin is coming off an outstanding freshman season in which he led the team in points with 28 and in goals with 21, while he ranked second on the team in assists with seven. He was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week twice, earned New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Co-Player of the Week honors and won the team s Joseph M. Murphy III Rookie of the Year award. Colin is a very good shooter, said Pascal. An emphasis this season will be to generate shots for him. We want to get him the ball a lot. Smirti, who has the most goals of any current Crusader with 47, ranked second on the team with 18 goals and 21 points last season. Chris has the ability to find a way to score a lot of goals, said Pascal. He is very important to our success on offense. Flood is another key player at attack as he ranked fourth on the team with Junior Conor McKenna eight goals and was fifth with four assists last season. Colin is one of the toughest players I have ever coached, said Pascal. His toughness leads to goals. DeCicco will be looking to contribute to the offense. Ricky had a great fall season, said Pascal. If he gets knocked down he gets right up. Kennedy is expected to contribute right away and was very impressive at the fall scrimmages. During the fall he played on man-up situations, said Pascal. We expect him to compete right away and contribute as a freshman. Junior Douglas Broussard MIDFIELD The Crusaders return a lot of depth in the offensive midfield led by Minor and McKenna. Minor, who was named the team s 2009 Offensive Player of the Year, had a career-best 15 goals and a career-best six assists for a career-best 21 points last season. He was tied for second on the team in points, while he was third in goals and assists. Minor has been a big player for us for four years here, said Pascal. He started off as a defensive midfielder but has become one of our top offensive players. McKenna, who led the team with a career-best 11 assists and was fourth with a career-best 14 points last season, is expected to continue to be a strong set up man. Conor has matured as a lacrosse player and is a go to guy for us, said Pascal. He is also a key player for us in man-down situations. Moran, who has 10 goals and seven assists for 17 career points,

OUTLOOK has moved from attack to midfield. In the midfield he can control the tempo of the game, said Pascal. We think he can really help us in this new position. Nagle, who has spent time between attack and midfield, has really impressed Pascal since he arrived on campus four years ago. Mike has probably made the biggest improvements of any one on the team during his four seasons here, said Pascal. He has spent a lot of time in the weight room. He is a great leader and a great kid. We are looking for a big season from him. Rabiecki and Morici are coming off solid freshman seasons and will look to continue to contribute on the field. Both these players had great freshman years, said Pascal. Nick is very athletic and we expect him to get even better. Andrew really came on at the end of the season. He has a great ability to dodge and has very good hands. Rowley is expected to contribute in the offensive midfield this season. Justin had a great fall season, said Pascal. He is a tough player and a good finisher. Pascal has also been impressed with Hines. Tom is playing the best lacrosse since he got here, said Pascal. Gillespie, Hannan and Pond will be looking to have strong freshman seasons. Myles has great goal scoring ability, said Pascal. He is a good dodger and he can really drive to the goal. John is a really confident and athletic player. When I was recruiting Tim I noticed his uniform was always dirty and he was always around the net meaning he was working really hard. He will also take faceoffs for us this season. In the defensive midfield, Petri and Troy are expected to be major contributors. We are expecting Matt and Eamon to be big for us and lead the defensive midfield, said Pascal. Ferraro has been moved from offense to defense. Brent is really fast, athletic and quick, said Pascal. Freshmen Stillman and Curran will look to have solid rookie seasons. Kip has great stick skills and Jack who we also moved him from offense to defense is a very physical player, said Pascal. DEFENSE Defense will be a major strength for the Crusaders led by Barrar, who has played 40 career games with 29 starts. Tim is our shut down guy and he is a great leader, said Pascal. We put him on the opponent s best offensive player. Along with Barrar, Rapport is expected to have a strong senior season. He has played 42 career games with 31 starts. John has great hands and has great anticipation as he is very good in getting the ball to our offensive side of the field, said Pascal. Connolly is a senior leader. Kevin is a great kid to have on the team, said Pascal. He comes out every day and gives it his all which is great for the underclassmen to see. Broussard has started in every single game during his career and is a key to the success of the defense. Douglas leads by example and fires up the team, said Pascal. Quinn and Henry are also major factors on defense. Anthony keeps getting better and is important to our defense, said Pascal. David is one of the most physical players on the team. Doyle, Peterson, who was named the team s 2009 Most Improved Player, and Schmader will also contribute to the defense. Nick is a great teammate and is great in the weight room, said Pascal. Greg intercepts a lot of passes and will play man-down for us. Daniel is a big physical player that will help us. SPECIALISTS Ward, who Pascal describes as very fast, is expected to be strong as a long stick midfielder this season. Guarente, who was the team s main faceoff man last season as a freshman, is expected to be a major factor on faceoffs. A.J. got better as last season went on and we expect him to win a lot of faceoffs this season, said Pascal. He is also in charge of our Big Brother program so that shows what type of character he has. Pond will also take faceoffs this season as well. GOAL Sweeney, who will represent Ireland in the 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men s World Championship in Manchester, England in July, will be the starting goalie for the Crusaders this season. Connor has been waiting three years behind threeyear starter Jimmy Harrison, said Pascal. He is really excited for the opportunity to be the starter this season. He wins player of the week in practice a lot. He is also a good leader. DeLisio and Garrahy will also look to contribute in goal. SCHEDULE The Crusaders will once again play a tough schedule. We play a lot of Ivy League teams and also being in the Patriot League our schedule is always very challenging, said Pascal. Holy Cross will start the season with three straight road games with St. John s (Feb. 20), Yale (Feb. 27) and Marist (March 2). The Crusaders first home game will be versus Harvard (March 6), while they will then play at Dartmouth (March 9). After the Patriot League season opener at home versus Colgate (March 13), Holy Cross will meet Hartford (March 17), defending Patriot League Tournament champion Navy (March 20) and Lehigh (March 27) all on the road. The Crusaders will then play five consecutive home games as they will take on Bucknell (April 3), Vermont (April 6), Lafayette (April 10), Quinnipiac (April 17) and Bryant (April 20). Holy Cross will conclude the regular season at Army (April 24). The Patriot League Tournament will take place on April 30 and May 2, on the campus of the regular season champion. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will qualify for the tournament.

36 COMMUNITY SERVICE Giving back to the surrounding community is as much a part of the Holy Cross men s lacrosse team as goals and ground balls. Head coach Adam Pascal and his student-athletes make sure they take time to reach out to the youth of Central Massachusetts. Here is a look at some of the community service projects the Crusaders have been involved in over the last few seasons. The team, known as John s Brothers, volunteer every week during the school year. Matched with ethnically diverse children, the team spent two hours per week mentoring students both inside and outside the classroom. This program was formed nine years ago to honor the memory of John Price, who died in a tragic accident after being elected captain of the 2001 lacrosse team. The team is very involved in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program in Worcester. In 2007, the team received the H. Martin Deranian Fellowship Award from Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Central Massachusetts, for outstanding volunteer efforts. The Crusaders take part in the annual Rodman Ride for Kids. This is a one-day cycling tour that raises money for nonprofit agencies that promote healthy, positive lives for children throughout New England. For the 2009 Rodman Ride for Kids the men s lacrosse team raised $10, for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Head coach Adam Pascal was honored as one of 50 Mentors that Matter in a ceremony at the Great Hall of the Massachusetts State House in Boston. Pascal was honored for his role as a Big Brother, and for encouraging the entire men s lacrosse team to be Big Brothers at Canterbury School in Worcester.

37 ABOUT HOLY CROSS Holy Cross is renowned for its academic excellence and mentoring-based, liberal arts education in the Jesuit tradition. An exclusively undergraduate institution with just over 2,800 students, Holy Cross is the oldest Catholic college in New England. Founded in 1843 in Worcester, Mass., the campus occupies 174 beautifully landscaped acres, featuring traditional and contemporary architecture, state-of-the-art facilities, and striking views from atop Mount St. James. Academic life at Holy Cross is serious, challenging and exciting. Student-professor exchanges in the classroom, as well as in countless informal settings, are at the center of academic life at Holy Cross. With a student to faculty ratio of 10 to one, the opportunity for individual attention is readily available. Few classes exceed an enrollment of 40, and most average 19 students. Holy Cross professors are widely respected in their academic specialties. Many have national reputations for their research and publications, creative performances, recordings and exhibitions. Almost all of the approximately 300 full- and part-time faculty members hold doctoral degrees from some of the finest universities here and abroad. Among the major academic facilities on campus are Dinand Library (which, along with three other specialized libraries on campus, has total holdings of more than 650,000 volumes); Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Art Gallery (with a regular schedule of world-class exhibitions); Brooks Concert Hall (acclaimed by performers and acoustical experts as one of the finest medium-sized performance spaces in the region); St. Joseph Memorial Chapel (built in 1924 and containing the recently renovated McCooey Chapel on the lower level); Hogan Campus Center (with bookstore, post office, coffee lounge, cafeteria and pub); Carol and Park B. Smith Hall (housing the Center for Religion, Ethics and Culture and the Rehm Library); the Multimedia Resource Center in Edith Stein Hall; and the science complex in Haberlin, O Neil and Swords Halls. Coeducational since 1972, Holy Cross enrolls a student body of proven accomplishment. Almost all graduated in the top 20 percent of their high school classes. Most live in 10 residence halls

40 UNIQUE PROGRAMS MONTSERRAT All first-year students are part of a challenging academic and cocurricular program called Montserrat. Embracing the excitement and discovery of living and learning at Holy Cross, this program expressly designed for first-year students integrates academic, co-curricular and residential experiences in unique ways. One of the cornerstones of a Holy Cross education is the commitment to Jesuit values. So it is fitting that the program is named after the mountain in Spain where, in 1522, St. Ignatius of Loyola (the founder of the Jesuit order) decided to begin a new life. Students entering Holy Cross are also beginning a new chapter of their lives and Montserrat provides experiences in and out of the classroom to enhance their journey, while supplying the tools to climb to new places. COLLEGE HONORS In the college honors program, academically accomplished students pursue multidisciplinary studies in the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. Guided by rotating faculty experts, students regularly meet and work to explore how knowledge from different areas can be tested and integrated across disciplines. The program incorporates an honors colloquium a series of interdisciplinary discussions and a thesis. Honors students publicly present their findings at the annual academic conference, a highlight of the academic year. WASHINGTON SEMESTER Each semester, 15 juniors and first-semester seniors are accepted into a highly selective program in the nation s capital. Students work with members of congress or federal agencies, assist advocacy and public policy groups, and explore up-close the arts, history and culture of Washington, D.C. With support from their Holy Cross advisor, students pursue internships that consist of four full work days, and a public policy seminar one night each week. On the fifth weekday, they conduct independent research for their Washington thesis paper. Named one of the country s most beautiful urban campuses in Kaplan s National Guidance Counselor Survey. Ranked 15th for professors who make themselves accessible in a student survey by The Princeton Review. Regarding the college s mission, Kaplan s Guide to the 328 Most Interesting Colleges says, The Jesuit tradition of being men and women for others shines at Holy Cross. According to The Insider s Guide to the Colleges, compiled by the staff of the Yale Daily News, the three best things about attending Holy Cross are: the professors, the beautiful campus and the connections with classmates. The Fiske Guide to Colleges cites Holy Cross small class sizes and beautiful campus as award winners. STUDY ABROAD Students looking to broaden their Holy Cross experience have an excellent opportunity to do so through the Study Abroad program. Year-long programs provide qualified students with exciting and fully credited extensions of the college s curriculum at participating universities in: Australia, Austria, Cameroon, England, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Scotland, Spain and Russia. One-semester programs are also available in China and Sri Lanka. Third-year students in good academic standing live with host families, and take courses and exams alongside foreign students in their native language. Deepening the cultural experience, students complete an independent study project in the local community to ensure close interaction with the people of their chosen countries. COMMUNITY-BASED LEARNING Through a generous endowment established by its namesake, Joseph P. Donelan II, the Donelan Office of Community-Based Learning provides a directorship to establish connections between courses across the college curriculum with internship sites in the greater Worcester area. In keeping with the college s social mission to prepare students to be men and women for others, Community- Based Learning enables students to be of service to the community while enhancing their understanding of course material.

44 STRENGTH & CONDITIONING Opened in 1997, the Carol and Park B. Smith Wellness Center is a two-story facility which was built as an addition to the Hart Recreation Center. The wellness center provides state-of-the-art fitness equipment for varsity athletes and all other members of the Holy Cross community. A $1.5-million gift from Carol and Park B. Smith (Class of 1954) kicked off the campaign to fund the facility. Everyone today agrees that fitness is very important, Smith said in I m confident that this new Wellness Center whose facilities will be second-to-none will provide a real benefit to current and future Holy Cross students, teachers and staff. With 15,000 square feet, the wellness center provides over four times more space than the college previously had for varsity and community exercise and training, and centralizes athletic equipment and facilities once found in five locations in three campus buildings. On the first level, the center houses a highly versatile strength and conditioning center for Holy Cross varsity student-athletes. There are areas for speed development programs, as well as for strength and endurance conditioning. The space, which is able to accommodate as many as 60 people at a time, enables Holy Cross larger sports teams to work out together, thereby enhancing team unity. The second floor has been designed for use by all students, faculty and staff. It has two sections: one for aerobic training, and the other for cardiovascular, variable-resistance and strength training. A diverse selection of equipment accommodates users ranging from beginners to advanced athletes. Its south-facing wall is mostly glass, allowing most users a view of the practice fields and the rolling hills of central New England. The center also offers programs that explore the connections between fitness and wellness, to help students learn how good health can complement and enhance other aspects of their educational experience. An advisory board comprising physicians, fitness and strength trainers, faculty members, psychologists, nutritionists, a college chaplain and others are responsible for creating and coordinating programming for the center. Holy Cross head strength and conditioning coach Jeff Oliver believes that the wellness center is of the utmost importance to Crusader athletic teams. Over the past two decades, college coaches have turned increasingly to strength and conditioning to gain an edge over their opponents, Oliver said. And while football may have been the first to grasp the concept, we now train athletes from every varsity sport. The wellness center has been a huge boon to our program. With 6,500 square feet of the center devoted solely to varsity athletes, Oliver and his staff to are able to accommodate a much larger number of athletes at one time, allowing teams to train together at times more convenient to their busy schedules as student-athletes. The state-of-the-art equipment in the wellness center includes: Eight multi-purpose power racks, each with over 600 pounds of free weights. Seven Olympic lifting platforms with over 375 pounds of rubberized free weights. More than 3,000 pounds of dumbbells. Eighteen pieces of aerobic equipment. Three full sets of plyometric boxes. A number of free weight-loaded pieces of equipment to accommodate injured athletes. Thanks to the generous donation from the Smiths, Oliver said, This facility is state of the art.

45 THE CITY OF WORCESTER Worcester, the economic and social center of central Massachusetts, is New England s third-largest city with a population of 175,500. Holy Cross is one of the area s 13 colleges and universities, which together make an enormous impact on the area s culture and economy. Boston, Springfield, Hartford and Providence are all about a one-hour drive. New York City is about three hours away; Cape Cod and the Atlantic Ocean are less then two hours from Worcester; and the mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire can be reached in about three hours. Skiing is available at nearby Wachusett Mountain, and water sports enthusiasts can enjoy the hundreds of rivers and lakes in the area, including Lake Quinsigamond. First incorporated as a township in 1722, this settlement 40 miles west of Boston soon became an important transportation center on the Boston Turnpike, linking the capital city with New York and the west. One of America s first internal commercial waterways, the Blackstone Canal, linked the town with Providence to the south and gave direct access to the Atlantic Ocean. Primarily an industrial city through the mid-20th century, Worcester has emerged as an educational, medical, health care, cultural and entertainment center. An expanded business and commercial base, and the recent addition of a variety of high-technology companies and growing biotechnology research parks, have made Worcester attractive to expanding companies. Downtown Worcester stands on the brink of a dramatic renaissance with a new hotel attached to the convention center, a new courthouse and major housing and retail projects all in the works. Worcester is nonetheless predominantly residential in character. More than 1,200 acres of city-owned parkland are found within its 38 square miles. Half of the entire city budget goes for educational purposes, testimony to the values of its inhabitants. Its parklands are among the oldest in the nation, as are its library and music festival. Worcester is a city proud of its past and secure in its future. Worcester is home to the DCU Center, a 13,000-seat arena that features big-name rock bands; Mechanics Hall, a world renowned venue for opera, jazz, blues and classical concerts; and the Worcester Art Museum, internationally known as one of the finest small museums in the United States. Other museums include the Higgins Armory Museum, a repository of Medieval arms and armor; the Ecotarium, which combines the features of a science museum, a planetarium and a zoo; the headquarters of the American Antiquarian Society; and the Worcester Historical Museum. After a $40 million restoration project, the historic Union Station now serves visitors and commuters via MBTA regional service and Amtrak national service. Worcester has world-class dining, ethnic restaurants, diners, coffee houses, bookstores, shopping, parks and recreation all within easy reach of campus.

He is smart, full of energy, skilled in financial management and fully committed to Holy Cross, said then Holy Cross president Fr. Gerard Reedy, S.J., at the time of Regan s hiring. Regan s first 11 years have been productive ones for the Crusaders. During this period of time, 18 Holy Cross teams have advanced to NCAA tournament play including at least one team in each of his first nine seasons. The Crusaders have advanced to postseason play in five of the last nine years, and became the first Patriot League team ever to advance to the NCAA tournament in three consecutive seasons (2001, 2002 and 2003). Success is not measured only by wins and losses, but by other gains as well. In an effort to further increase the number of Crusader teams coached by full-time staff members, Regan announced the appointment of full-time coaching positions in track, volleyball, women s lacrosse and softball. Gender equity has been a major focus of Regan s administration and he introduced the college s first two new varsity sports in more than 15 years women s ice hockey and women s golf.
