Our Lady of Fatima Traveling Statue The Traveling Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will arrive in St. Anthony s Chapel on Saturday, August 1st and will remain in the Chapel until August 14th. All are invited and encouraged to come and view the statue and pray to Our Lady. This is the opportune time to place all your worries and concerns before Her and ask for Her graces and blessings. The Chapel will be open every day except Fridays from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, while the statue is in our care. St. Anthony s Chapel Portiuncula Indulgence The Portiuncula Indulgence can be gained in St. Anthony s Chapel, by the faithful, from Saturday, August 1st till Sunday, August 2nd. Conditions to receive the indulgence are: Confession, Communion, one visit each day to the Chapel and recitation of the Our Father, the Creed and some other prayer or ejaculation, for the intention of Our Holy Father. The Portiuncula Indulgence is a Plenary Indulgence. A Plenary Indulgence is a one which remits all the temporal punishment due because of sin. (Temporal Punishment is time spent in purgatory.) SEEKING THE SPIRIT Bishop David Zubik invites all Catholics to take part in the dynamic planning initiative On Mission for The Church Alive! Three Evenings of Prayer are being held this summer to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The second session, an Evening of Recollection with the theme, Go and Tell the Disciples will be held on Wednesday July 22, 7 p.m. at 12 parishes throughout the diocese. See the Pittsburgh Catholic for a complete listing, or visit OnMissionChurchAlive.org. See you there! There nearest place to us is Sacred Heart Parish in Emsworth. JULY 12, th Sunday in Ordinary Time "He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick-no food, no sack, no money in their belts." Jesus gave the Twelve Apostles a remarkable mission. He sent them out two by two to preach repentance, to cast out evil spirits, and to heal the sick. And he made them do it in a spirit of complete dependence upon God. They were not allowed to take anything along that would have given them material comfort or security. These men--who did not even have the witness of other apostles or saints to inspire or give them courage, and who had not yet beheld the Resurrection of the Lord--stepped out into the world with literally nothing but their faith in this man named Jesus. And look what happened! "The Twelve drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them." The apostles' trust in God's power to work these miracles through their hands began with trust in God's power to provide for their own needs. Because they didn't have food, shelter, or money, every time they received food or shelter or had their needs met, the apostles were able to see that God was at work in their midst. This experience bolstered their faith and encouraged them in their mission. When we find ourselves questioning whether we really have the "power" to do what God wants us to do, then we ought to step back and try to depend a little more directly upon God's providence. Tithing is one way to accomplish this. When we set aside a portion of our income for the sake of others, we make an act of trust in God's power to provide for us. Surrendering this element of care for ourselves allows God to meet our needs himself. And when he does, our faith will flourish too. Mass Attendance July 4 & 5 Saturday: 190 Sunday: 343 Total attendance at both churches: 533
4 FAITH SHARING Please join us for our next Faith Sharing gatherings!! Monday, July 13th at 7:00 p.m. at At Most Holy Name School Hall Mass Requests for Concelebration Each weekday morning, two Priests offer Mass at St. Anthony s Chapel. Once the concelebrated Mass is offered, the list is put into the bulletin on the first weekend of each month. Our Mass Intention list for concelebration is becoming depleted. Our prayers for the dead help our loved ones work through their experience of Purgatory. The Mass is the best prayer for this. 7 Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 12, 2015 A Family Perspective By Bud Ozar - Jesus sent out His apostles without a lot of things because THINGS distract. We collect, argue about and protect our things. Garage sales only transfer things. We even ignore each other because we have things to do. What things are separating you from your family? St. Vincent de Paul Society - In the Gospel today we see how Jesus sent his Apostles out two by two. From the beginning of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, members visit in pairs two by two, those who are poor and needy in their homes. It is there, in the family setting, that Vincentians listen, offer humble advice, and render assistance. Have you considered answering the call to help serve the poor by joining the Society of St. Vincent de Paul? St. Basil Parish offers diocesan approved Pre-Cana classes for couples preparing for marriage. The next program is on Friday, September 18 (6-10:00pm) and Saturday, September 19 (9:00am - 3:00pm) $60 per couple. Call the parish office at to register.
