The 1,214 hectare (3000 acre) Hiawatha Highlands is the area of choice for their hiking, jogging, cross- country skiing, picnicking and nature study Monocle Lake. 32 Academic Philosophy Academics are considered your first priority at Lake Superior State University. However, athletics are considered an integral part of the academic experience. Our athletes must be dedicated in all phases of the academic experience and therefore are required to attend all classes and study tables.
