1 STATE UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY AT DELHI 2009 CAMPUS STATEMENT Founded in 1913 and granted charter membership in the State University of New York in 1948, SUNY Delhi has earned state and national recognition for providing student-centered, residential collegiate experience focused on academic excellence, innovation and hands-on experience. Delhi offers a seamless technology-based education that includes over 60 academic programs leading to certificates, associate degrees, and specialized baccalaureate degrees. SUNY Delhi is one of the fastest growing campuses in the State University system. A record enrollment of more than 3,000 students is expected in Fall 2009 with Delhi s student body representing a true cross-section of the State s population. SUNY Delhi s 469-acre main campus is comprised of 35 specialized buildings, many housing unique academic programs and highly specialized laboratories. Some deserve special note. The Veterinary Science Technology program was the first of its type in the United States and continues to be the preeminent program in the nation. The program features instruction in Farnsworth Hall, a highly sophisticated facility, and a Valley Campus that provides students with experience working with small and large animals. The Valley Campus also includes a salix demonstration plot. The College s Alumni Hall Hospitality Center houses state of the art facilities that support the most comprehensive menu of associate and baccalaureate degree hospitality programs in New York State. Extensive facilities support the Golf Course Management programs, including an 18-hole golf course and club house. The College s Applied Technologies Complex features specialized laboratories for plumbing, heating, welding, refrigeration, electrical and photovoltaic studies. Enrollment at SUNY Delhi continues to increase and new program initiatives at both the associate and baccalaureate degree levels have been successfully introduced. Recent examples include bachelor s degrees in Architectural Design and Building and Recreation and Sports Facility Management, and associate s degrees in Teacher Education, Criminal Justice and Environmental Studies. On-line degree programs are becoming increasing popular and include an RN to BSN that has grown from 20 to more than 200 students since January 2008 and a B.B.A. in Veterinary Technology Management and. Off site delivery of specialized baccalaureate degrees is an expanding priority. Responding to the need for specialized baccalaureate education in the Capital District, Delhi is delivering four-year degree programs in Hospitality Management, Travel and Tourism Management, and Business and Technology Management on the campuses of three community colleges Schenectady, Onondaga and Tompkins Cortland. A B.S. in Criminal Justice Studies is also being developed for Schenectady. Recent capital improvements include: the start of a $20.5 million renovation to the Farrell Hall Student and Community Center, construction of an architectural design studio for a new baccalaureate program; renovation of South Hall to provide specialized facilities for Nursing programs; construction of a baking lab for Delhi s award-winning culinary program; renovation of the Resnick Library and Learning Center to include special collections rooms for Veterinary Science Technology and Nursing; and the development of high tech computer labs and twenty-four smart classrooms in instructional facilities across the campus. The campus has made significant investments in technology for students, including the Technology Center (open 100 hours per week), which offers students affordable computer access, and wireless access in all residence halls, the Resnick Library, and lounge areas in academic buildings. New facilities include Catskill Hall, a 150-bed suite style residence hall to accommodate the increasing number of students who want to live on campus; the addition of 30 beds on the lower level of DuBois Hall, Riverview Townhouses, a 70-bed student apartment complex developed by the College Foundation; and the 37,000 square foot Clark Field House, featuring an 1,700 seat gymnasium, state-of-the-art fitness center, offices and a training room. The Field House connects to the College s mini dome which serves as a multi-purpose structure for indoor track, tennis, golf and intramurals.
