Info Session Come and learn about how you can travel to communities outside of the New York City area to complete educational community service projects and give back to the community with us during Spring Break! Marathon Table Sign Up Join us to volunteer for the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon on November 6, There will be 48,000 runners who will need water and Gatorade to keep them fueled. Individuals, teams and organizations will be spending one day focused solely on getting New Yorkers to enroll as organ donors. WHEN IS IT? Thursday, October 6, 2016 WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? New York is 50th out of 50 states in the percentage of residents enrolled as organ donors. This isn t the New York we know. The New York we know isn t last in anything, especially when it's something that includes helping others. Every completed enrollment form could help save the lives of up to 8 people. What not to wear: Please refrain from wearing open toed shoes, items that you would not feel comfortable getting dirty, or any expensive items. Also, since we will be active, try to steer away from large purses and totes. Backpacks are highly recommended! Saturday, October 29, 2016 Time: 9:30am - 12:30pm The JCMI Food Pantry serves residents of the Bronx community by providing a variety of food items to hundreds of families. Join us as we help distribute items to families! Monday, October 31, 2016 Volunteers must arrive at 9:30am Meet Up Location: Child Care Center Child Care Center Halloween Parade Make a child s day! Volunteer to help escort trick-ortreaters from the Child Care Center around campus. On

8 Parade Time: 10:00am 12:30pm - Lehman College the day of the parade, if it is not raining, we will be taking the children to the different departments and offices on campus alongside the teachers at the Center. There are 64 children in total and we would like as many volunteers as possible. Hands-on volunteer opportunity with the NYC Compost Project to accept pumpkins, gourds, jack-o-lanterns and help participants smash them or sling them across the Lehman Quad. You can volunteer to help run the Smash Zone platform and/or chop pumpkins in the Splash Zone down in the campus Quad. We will also need your help to give away free goodies and refreshments to event attendees. Volunteer shirts and gloves will be provided, as needed. SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER HERE! On the form, CHOOSE PUMPKIN SMASH!!!! The NYC Compost Project works to rebuild NYC s soils by providing New Yorkers with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to make and use compost locally. NYC Compost Project programs are implemented by DSNY-funded teams at seven host organizations, including The New York Botanical Garden. For more information on composting in the Bronx, call our

9 Helpline at or us at Saturday, November 5, 2016 Time: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Location: Pier 64 at West 24th Street and the Hudson River 2016 Birch Family Services 5K Birch Family Services will be holding a 5K run to support children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities. Volunteers are needed to ensure the success of this event. Volunteer to help with set up, course support, fluid station support and clean up. Sunday, November 6, 2016 Time: 7:30 AM Location: Mile 20 (East 138th between Alexander and Third Ave) TCS New York City Marathon Lehman College takes over Mile 20 at the TCS NYC Marathon! Join us as we support over 50,000 runners and 340 charity partners at the only Bronx Fluid Station! The New York City Marathon is an annual marathon that courses through the five boroughs of New York City. It is the largest marathon in the world. The marathon's charity program has raised nearly $200 million for hundreds of causes since it began a decade ago. In 2015, 8,700 charity runners raised $33.9 million on behalf of hundreds of not-for-profit organizations in New York City and across the nation. Only volunteers that registered with New York Road Runners (NYRR) can volunteer at this event. Participate in our Annual Turkey Trot to benefit the

10 Lehman L.I.F.E. Alternative Break Scholarship Program. $5 for Students, $10 for Faculty, Staff and Community Members. The Leaders Involved for Everyone (Lehman L.I.F.E.) alternative break community service-learning program is designed to raise students awareness of issues and needs existing in local and global communities, and to foster effective action through volunteer work. Lehman L.I.F.E. students must raise 100% of their program fees, volunteer for at least 25 hours in our very own community in order to even qualify to apply, learn grassroots fundraising techniques and attend weekly cross-cultural education training. During the trip, the students partner with non-profit organizations and their leaders to assist in local community development. The cycle of service continues and expands as students bring their experiences back to benefit their own communities, in the Bronx and the greater New York City area. These volunteers are the backbone of the event for the success of delivering much-needed winter items to our clients. Volunteers at each site, will wait for the delivery truck (arrival times are below) and unload large bags of clothing and other winter items and storing them in the corresponding locations. Hand trucks may be available at certain sites. There will be a Catholic Charities representative at each site to direct volunteers where to store the bags volunteers are needed at the following locations and times:

Their goal is to provide a safe and healthy environment for every individual combined with opportunities for ownership. Their transitional housing covers 750 individual family units and 3 buildings for 475 single adults. Their dedicated team works in collaboration with the New York City Department of Homeless Services to return families and single adults to permanent housing.
