The Colonials are coming off a loss to instate rival St. Francis (10/1) in its 2005 NEC opener to fall to 0-1 in league play for the third straight year and will look to avoid falling to 0-2 in conference action for the first time in school history. RMU remained at No. 10 in the latest I-AA mid-major poll according to The Sports Network, while the Seahawks remained at No. 9 after downing Sacred Heart (10/1), 26-21, in their 2005 NEC opener. Quick Stat of the Afternoon - Senior halfback Devin Wilson has quickly gotten accustomed to the new football digs at Joe Walton Stadium, as in just two games he has scored five touchdowns and a two-point conversion for 32 points. Wilson enters Saturday s game leading the Northeast Conference in scoring (38 points) and tied for the lead in touchdowns with six, having scored five rushing touchdowns and one receiving. He is tied in touchdowns with Sacred Heart running back Ed Pricolo and Monmouth wide receiver Miles Austin. 4 2005 Colonial Football Game Notes - (10/8/05 vs. Wagner) - Page 4 Head Coach Joe Walton 12th Season - Pittsburgh 57 If there has been one constant associated with Robert Morris University football through the program s first 12 years, it has been Joe Walton. He was named head coach on July 27, He started the program from scratch, including everything from hiring assistant coaches to purchasing equipment to recruiting student-athletes. His fingerprints are all over the program, and to prove that, he had the University s first on-campus football stadium named in his honor. Joe Walton Stadium hosts its first game in I ve said this many times before, and I mean it when I say that this situation is one of the best things that has happened to me in my life, Walton said. It happened at the right time. Before this position became available, I felt I was too young to quit coaching, but I wasn t anxious to get back into pro football. When this came along, it was the perfect fit. This situation was the perfect opportunity for me to continue to do what I like to do, and I ve loved every minute of it. Under Walton s tutelage, the Colonials have claimed five Northeast Conference titles and a pair of mid-major national crowns in the program s first 11 years of existence. Robert Morris is one of just two programs to claim a pair of victories in the ECAC Classic, having won it in back-to-back seasons in 1996 and The success has done nothing to dampen Walton s enthusiasm for coaching football at Robert Morris, and with him on the sideline RMU wins nearly 70 percent of the time. Walton is RMU s only head coach ever, and he is (all at Robert Morris) at the collegiate level (.648). Walton was the head coach of the New York Jets from , when he went (.482). That seven-year mark ranks second in the NFL club s history in wins to the late Weeb Eubank. Also included among Walton s 35 NFL seasons is two ( ) as offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers. A two-time All-America tight end at Pittsburgh, Walton played eight years in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and New York Giants. Senior running back Devin Wilson finished with 90 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 16 carries and also converted a two-point conversion for the Colonials Colonial Football Game Notes - (10/8/05) - Page 5 Off the Deep End - Senior quarterback Drew Geyer s 71-yard touchdown pass to senior flanker Tyjuan Massey in the third Rowan (9/24) marked the third time that Geyer and Massey have hooked up for touchdowns of 70 yards or longer. In all, Geyer owns six touchdown passes that have been 70 yards or longer and six of the 10 longest completions in school history. The performance should come as no surprise, as Geyer has had tremendous success playing in familiar surroundings the past three years. Since the start of the 2003 campaign, Geyer has completed 207of his 369 passing attempts (56.1 percent) for 2,994 yards and 30 touchdowns at home. In 13 games over that span, Geyer has thrown for over 200 yards in 10 of them and owns nine games in which he has thrown at least two touchdowns. Moving on Up - Thanks to his 18-for-34, 190-yard passing performance against St. Francis (10/1), senior quarterback Drew Geyer moved his career total for passing yards to 5,468, which ranks third in both the RMU career record book and the Northeast Conference annals. Barring injury, Geyer should rank second in both record books by the end of the year. Former RMU signal caller Tim Levcik ( ) owns the RMU and NEC career mark with 7,222 passing yards, while ranking second in the NEC annals is former CCSU quarterback Scott Dolch (5,728). Electricity - Senior flanker Tyjuan Massey has been an integral part of the Robert Morris receiving corps over the past three years, but he also proven to be a key clog as part of the special teams unit. That has never been more evident than the 2005 campaign. After returning three kickoffs a total of 132 Duquesne (9/3), Massey returned three punts 71 yards (23.7 yards per return) in a win over Butler (9/17). Combined with his team-leading 11 catches for 248 yards, Massey enters Saturday s game against Wagner ranked second in the Northeast Conference in all-purpose yards per game (139.8), which also ranks 21st in I-AA. With 2,609 career all-purpose yards, Massey is on pace to finish third all-time at RMU with 3,448 allpurpose yards. In four games Geyer has completed a pass to 10 different receivers, including touchdown strikes to senior flanker Tyjuan Massey (3), junior split end Michael Rogers (2), senior tight end Jeremy Wise, junior tight end Jarvis Powers and senior halfback Devin Wilson.

6 2005 Colonial Football Game Notes - (10/8/05 vs. Wagner) - Page 6 James Noel Senior Miami, Fla. / North Miami Over the course of the last four years, senior linebacker James Noel has become one of the rocks of the Robert Morris defense. He has led the Colonials in tackles over that span and has posted 100-tackle seasons in each of his first three years with the club, starting with 108 in 2002 en route to being named the Northeast Conference Defensive Rookie of the Year. On his career Noel owns 358 takedowns, a career record, and has etched his name as one of RMU s all-time greats. A closer look at his career: Noel: Streaks and Stats Over his four-year career owns 358 career tackles, a school record, and is averaging 10.2 tackles per game over his career Has eclipsed 100 tackles in each of his first three seasons with the club (108 in 2002, 107 in 2003 and 115 in 2004), the only Colonial in school history to have multiple 100-tackle campaigns Tied the single-season school record with 108 tackles in 2002, then established a new mark with 115 in 2004 Owns school record 19 career double-digit tackle games Owns 13 career sacks, which ranks sixth all-time Has compiled a total of 41 tackles for losses that have equaled 110 yards Finished third in the Northeast Conference in 2004 in tackles per game (10.5) and tackles (115) Finished second in the NEC in 2003 in tackles per game (10.7) and tackles (107) Finished third in the NEC in 2002 in tackles per game (10.8) and fifth in tackles (108) Owns career totals of 10 passes defended, two interceptions, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one blocked kick Noel: Honors 2005 Preseason Mid-Major All-American by both The Sports Network and CollegeSportsReport.com 2005 Preseason All-Northeast Conference Team 2005 Preseason Top Northeast Conference Defensive Player by Street & Smith s 2004 NEC Defensive Player of the Year 2004 First Team All-NEC 2004 Mid-Major All-American (The Sports Network) 2004 Mid-Major First Team All-American (Don Hansen s National Weekly Football Gazette) 2004 AFCA I-AA Coaches All-American 2003 First Team All-NEC 2003 Mid-Major First Team All-American (Don Hansen s National Weekly Football Gazette) 2002 NEC Defensive Rookie of the Year 2002 Second Team All-NEC 2002 Mid-Major Honorable Mention All-American (Don Hansen s National Weekly Football Gazette) Noel s Double-Digit Tackle Games Date Opponent Solo Assist Total For Loss Dayton (-4) 9/28/02 Monmouth (-4) Sacred Heart (-13) Wagner (-1) Gannon Stony Brook (-9) Buffalo State (-2) Monmouth (-11) 9/27/03 St. Francis (-4) 10/4/03 Stony Brook (-1) 10/18/03 Sacred Heart (-8) Albany Duquesne (-1) 9/11/04 Duquesne (-3) St. Francis (-3) 10/16/04 Dayton (-7) 10/30/04 St. Peter s (-9) 11/6/04 Albany Sacred Heart Notes: Career highs in bold... Massey has returned just two kickoffs in the last three games, and if there is one reason why opponents are doing their best to keep the ball away from Massey on special teams, look no further than against St. Francis (10/1). Massey returned the opening kickoff of the second half 60 yards to the Red Flash 37- yard line, setting the Colonials up with great field position on a drive they eventually scored to take a 21-7 advantage. On the season Massey has returned five kickoffs for 218 yards, an average of 43.6 yards per kick that leads the Northeast Conference and ranks second in I-AA. On his career, Massey owns 824 kickoff return yards, just 125 yards shy of breaking former Colonial Dante Settles ( ) record of 948. Moving, Just Keep Moving - Senior halfback Devin Wilson registered the second 100- yard rushing game of his Rowan (9/24), finishing the afternoon with 103 yards on 16 carries. Wilson also produced a 48-yard touchdown scamper in the first quarter that gave the Colonials a quick 7-0 lead, which marks his longest run in an RMU uniform. Wilson leads Robert Morris in the early part of the 2005 campaign with 279 yards rushing on 63 carries, an average of 4.4 yards a rush, and is one of nine Colonials to post a 100-yard rushing game in school history. A list of the nine players and the number of 100-yard rushing games each posted: Name Years 100-Yard Rushing Games 1. Sam Dorsett Tim Hall Archie Wannamaker Donald Dorsey Ralph Clark Devin Wilson Vince Magnone Develand Campbell Myles Davis Three s Company - To illustrate the depth the Colonials have at the skill positions and the ability to spread the ball around on offense, one needs to look no further than senior halfback Devin Wilson. Wilson finished with three touchdowns in RMU s win over Butler (9/17) in the team s 2005 home opener, rushing for touchdowns of one and four yards and adding a 19-yard touchdown reception from senior quarterback Drew Geyer for his third score of the afternoon. Wilson became the first Colonial in almost seven years to score three touchdowns in a game, as the last time the feat was accomplished came in a win over Central Connecticut State (9/26/98), when former running back Archie Wannamaker ( ) turned the trick, a span of 69 games. Protection - For just the second time in school history, Robert Morris returns all five starters on the offensive line from the previous season. Returning in 2005 are seniors Clifton Jean-Jacques (LG), Vince Romo (C), Greg Harteis (RG) and Matt Williams (RT) to go along with junior left tackle Gus Alonso. Supplying protection for senior quarterback Drew Geyer and opening holes for RMU s stable of running backs will be the key for the group. The last time RMU had five starters return on the offensive line came in 1996, when interior starters Brian Cleary, Keith Stewart, Deodis Powell, Kevin Neill and Adam Thermann came back to help guide that squad to an overall record of 9-2, the club s first Northeast Conference championship and an ECAC Bowl victory. The Magic Mark - Since the Colonials began play in 1994 there have been 52 games in which Robert Morris has scored 30 or more points. In those contests RMU boasts a record of 49-3, including a record of 26-3 in games in which the team scores between 30 and 39 points. In games in which the Colonials score 40 or more points, RMU is a perfect 23-0.

9 2005 Colonial Football Game Notes - (10/8/05 vs Wagner) - Page 9 Dynamic Duo Over the course of the past three seasons, senior tight end Rupert Rickards and senior flanker Tyjuan Massey have become RMU s two most reliable receivers, combining to catch 154 passes for 2,782 yards. Over that same span, Rickards and Massey have accounted for 38.2 percent (154-of-403) of RMU s receptions. Also, Rickards and Massey s 154 combined receptions is the most in school history by a Robert Morris receiving tandem, eclipsing the 121 former tight end Brent Hockenberry ( ) and former wideout Shawn Martin ( ) posted over the course of the seasons. Rickards owns 100 career catches, a school record, for 1,314 yards, an average of 13.1 yards per catch, while Massey owns 84 career receptions for 1,468 yards, an average of 17.5 yards a catch. The pair, barring injury, should finish as the top two receivers in school history in both receptions and receiving yards, as Massey is just three catches from taking over second place in the career record book for receptions. Both Rickards and Massey are less than 200 receiving yards away from eclipsing former wide receiver Fred Parker ( ), who owns the career record for receiving yards with 1,495.
