1 26 TH ANNUAL SOUTHEASTERN UNITED STATES KENDO FEDERATION CHAMPIONSHIP HOSTED BY THE CHARLOTTE KENDO CLUB NOVEMBER 7, 2015 CAROLINA COURTS CHESTNUT PKWY - INDIAN TRAIL NC Honored Guests, Sensei and my fellow Kenshi I want to Welcome you to the 26th Southeastern United States Kendo Federation Championships in beautiful Indian Trail, North Carolina. I am pleased to announce that we will have many kenshi participating today who have traveled from all over the southeast region and some from outside the federation to compete in today s tournament. I would like to offer a special Thank You to Kunitoshi Arai sensei who has graciously agreed to lead today s event as the Shinpancho (Chief Judge). I look forward to this tournament every year and from the many familiar faces I see, it looks like you do also. This is where our practice is put to the test. I encourage you to do your best, fight with the spirit that we each know we have in us. Fight with the heart of those long ago and not so long ago samurai. Most of all fight with Respect, for the judges and for your opponent. It doesn t matter the outcome of your matches. You should learn, take that experience back to your dojo to practice, and come back next year more determined. We here at the Charlotte Kendo Club are celebrating our 29th year since Ken Strawn sensei formed the club and we are excited and honored to be able to host this wonderful event. In these many years as a kendo family we have grown and we have many members and volunteers helping to make this tournament a success. To them I say a special THANK YOU because without you, this day would not have been possible. I wish you all Success in your upcoming events! Gambatte!! Sincerely, Craig Philbeck Charlotte Kendo Club President
