2 T HURSDAY, A UGUST 31, 2017 WELCOME 8:00 a.m. 5:30 p.m. IT Help Desk Open, Location: 2nd floor, Library Our Information Technology staff will be available to answer questions or help troubleshoot technology issues including installing Outlook on your mobile device. (Also: computer pickup/drop-off for students arriving late). 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Bookstore Open, Location: Strauch Family Student Center Stop by to pick up your books, purchase school supplies and Landmark gear. 9:00am-12:00pm 11:30am-1:45pm 2:00pm-2:30pm 2:30pm-3:30pm Registration & Move In Location: Click Family Sports Center Register for Orientation, pick up your computer, get your student ID, complete any remaining paperwork and receive directions to your room. After you finish registering, you will be able to check into your residence hall. Orientation Leaders and Residential Life staff will be on hand to assist you and answer any questions. Lunch Remember to bring your ID; you ll need it for every meal. Look for tables with Orientation Leaders in the dining hall, feel free to join them for lunch. Orientation Expectations & Overview Meet members of your Orientation group as you begin to build a community based on trust, support and cooperation. 4 Kick off your first full day on campus with an easy hike through the Landmark campus. Wear closed toe shoes. 9:30am-10:00am 10:00am-11:15am 11:15am-12:00pm Advisor Meetings Location: East Academic Building Classrooms Find out from your advisor how to begin your academic journey and build a strong relationship with them. A list of advisor locations will be posted in the dining hall as well as in the entrances to the East Academic Building. Advising & Registration Location: East Academic Building /Administration Building, by advisor (Only those students who have not yet registered for classes are required to attend) Welcome from Academic Affairs Locations: Credit Partial Credit Language Intensive Curriculum In this session, members from the Academic Affairs Placement Team will welcome you to the college and discuss strategies and approaches for your success this semester. We will review our placement process and inform you about how your schedule was created, based on your academic needs. There will be time dedicated to questions and answers about the academic program at Landmark and following the session you will meet staff from various support services on campus and have an opportunity to sign up for specific services. 12:00pm 12:30pm 12:30pm-1:30pm 1:30pm-4:00pm Academic Support Services Fair Location: Drake Center for Academic Support and EAB 105 (Coursework Support Center) In this session you will meet with representatives from Landmark s academic support centers and support staff, who will explain how you can best access appointments and services to create structured routines. Concurrent Sessions (See the schedule below to know which session you must attend at 1:30pm and at 3:00pm) Technology Training Locations: EAB 202, EAB 203 This session will prepare you for the technology use expected of Landmark Students. Learn the ins and outs of your laptop as well as the software platforms that Landmark uses including Landmark , Canvas, Moodle, SIS, and Sharknet. This is a hands-on session. You must bring your laptop with you to this session. 5 In the time slots below when you are not attending a Technology Session, you should be in a mini-lecture on Diversity being held by our faculty. Preseason Soccer Game Location: Charles Drake Field Cheer on our soccer team as they start their season with a game against the Putney Men s team. Living with a Roommate Location: Your Residence Hall It can be challenging sharing a room with another person. Setting healthy boundaries and learning to communicate are important to successfully living with a roommate. This session will help you begin to build the skills needed to be a good roommate. Convocation Location: Tent, Quad Convocation is the ceremonial start to the fall semester as we welcome you into the Landmark College community. Family Farewell Brunch This is a great opportunity to connect with your family before they leave campus. 1:30pm-2:30pm Diversity 101 Location: Greenhoe Theater, Fine Arts Building Dr. Matos is a Visiting Lecturer and consultant who works with groups to learn how to talk about oppression in a manner that leaves participants feeling empowered to create change. She uses warmth, humor, and her identities as a queer, Catholic, raised poor, Latina with disabilities, to show that we can talk about social identities in a fun and healing way. She will discuss how each of us bring a unique perspective to Landmark and the importance of creating space for different backgrounds, ideas, and experiences. 2:45pm-3:15 pm 3:30pm-4:30pm Class Photo Location: Charles Drake Field Join the newest members of the Landmark community for a class photo. Play pickup basketball or dodgeball in the Click Center, Apples to Apples in the Stone Hall Coffeehouse, explore the campus or just relax and hang out with new friends. 4:00pm-6:00pm 5:00pm-7:00pm 8:00pm-10:00pm Shuttles to Keene & Brattleboro Location: Shuttles will depart from the back of Alumni Hall. Forget something at home? Need some snacks for your room? The shuttle will run two trips to Keene, NH shopping areas for those last minute items. There will also be a shuttle to Brattleboro to explore the downtown area. This session will give you the skills and knowledge to step up and intervene in difficult situations. Climbing the rock wall? Playing on an athletic team? Going on an outdoor adventure? Meet the Athletics, Fitness and Recreation Staff, along with our coaches. Introduction to Fitness Facilities and Equipment Learn the appropriate and safe use of equipment in each of the fitness facilities Landmark College has to offer. Whether you are familiar with personal wellness or are just getting started, this is an important session for anyone who plans to use the fitness facilities. Free Time Relax and recharge. The bookstore, Fireside Café, and Click Center will all be open. Or simply relax in your residence hall. If you haven t purchased your books yet this is a great opportunity to do that. Make sure that you ve purchased your packet for your FY class from the bookstore.
